congrats on the find they are gorgeous
  2. Keeping in contact with as many as you can is a good thing too Zebra along with giving them a care sheet with your phone number and e-mail address. Also when you let people know that if anytime they can't keep the budgie they may return it back to you really helps keep your babies safe in the future. One thing I remember when I adopted Merlin is Lisa said she disregarded all the e-mails or requests that wanted to know first how much with no other questions. I never asked how much I wanted to know more about Merlin first and then decided later if I wanted him they we could talk price. It was important that I found a budgie that would fit our life style first
  3. my budgies are not that crazy is it normal? Probably for your budgies they love to have fun. How big is the cage and do you move the toys around allot? If they like to shred you can also give them non-toxic printed newsletter to have fun with, how are your cup holders held up in your cage? Actually do you have a pics of your set-up?

I wouldn't get toys for the bottom they get messed on she is probably just exploring her new cage and being silly plus she probably realizes doing that gets her out of the cage . She sounds like a character would love to see more pics
  5. Oh good can you put when they are your show budgies so I know (I have the inexperience eye (Laughing out loud) so that would be wonderful )

I agree let her get sick of sitting on them and then I would give her a nice long break from your breeding program. Let her replenish her nutrients and minerals her body needs and try again down the road.
  7. your poor fingers sound like you have a female vs a male Terri on her site has some great taming tips it is at www.budgietalk.com (I see you have it already) follow the taming tips she does have for teaching step-up first. Yes continue to give rewards and let him know your hand is not bad. Did you get him as a baby or from a pet store?
  8. females usually don't lay eggs unless giving a nesting box (but some do without a male and nesting box). How soon they do and when they stop I am unsure and I am sure someone will come in with that answer here soon. Welcome to our forums and feel free to introduce yourself on our Welcome Forums

It truly sounds like you need to to back to the basic of hand taming and be patience every budgie is different. Terri's site is excellent for taming www.budgietalk.com go there and read over the taming tips and start from the beginning. What do you mean you make her tunnel everyday?
  13. good vibes - everything will be okay Bea :ausb:
  14. I can't believe the avian vet wouldn't be willing to an ER visit in this instance (I guess I expect too much of people). Bea I hope they are okay hugs out to you sweetie
  15. Is he drinking allot Bea?

males are known to be talkers because they say they pick up faster but females can learn to talk too. Males are more vocal then females so I think that is the reasoning behind it.
  17. So sweet hey Karen how are all your show budgies doing? You haven't updated your journal lately
  18. Elly replied to Bea's topic in Budgie Pictures
Awe Blinks mirror pics are so sweet and Bails and Cookie are just gorgeous. Mr. Oz we are sending get well wishes from Pretty and Merlin
  19. hugs - did you tell them it is urgent and ER that you can't wait
  20. Do you have a mirror in the cage? This may cause biting issues? You are coming upon the hormonal stage and 1st molt so yes it can be a stage. But lunging and the dolphin noise does sound more scared. Does he step up on your hand yet? Does he like millett? When you put your hand in the cage bring a little bit of millett with you if he likes it. It will do wonders but ONLY give it to him if he doesn't bite. But if he likes it that should help with him not doing this.

I agree female and I think she is older then 10 weeks but I will let someone else add too. What is her personality like?
  22. Elly replied to a post in a topic in Budgie Behaviour
Well if you just had his wings clipped give him a week to figure out he can't fly it will happen and with this you may want to put him into a smaller room to get adjusted. As for biting is he hand tamed? Does he step up? Biting is a can be a natural reaction to fear or simply he knows he has the upper hand so he knows he can control you this way. I would seperate Nibbles and Screach because it doesn't sound like a good combo and let them play only during out time.
