I haven't tried anything but the samples they gave me and honestly I can't tell if he is eating them or not (Laughing out loud). They are layered on top of the seed right now so he sifts. I can give them a try, where do you find those?

Tumours In Budgies
Hugs on your loss I just lost my Pretty to a very sudden illness his was a respiratory infection and they are so good at hiding their illness. He wasn't even 2 yrs old. The best bet you can do to make sure they are healthy is buy an e gram scale I just purchased one at Wal-Mart. You can get them at an office supply place, e bay but make sure they go up and down in increments of 1 gram and don't pay no more then 40US dollars as you can find them inexpensive. The reason for this is if they have a tumor you will see it in a weight gain and also weight loss can be noticed if they are sick too. I wish I would have weighed Pretty I maybe could have found it earlier but I can't think about what I didn't do but think about what I can do for my remaining budgie Merlin. Tumor are very common in budgies and that is the biggest issue they have with them and what takes them at such an early age. We hope through better breeders taking on the stance to breed healthy tumor free birds that things can change for our feathered friends.

Since Pretty died we are working on better nutrition and I will keep everyone updated on how that goes on the pellet conversion. I wanted to get my e gram scale which I got one from Wal-Mart yesterday so I have to make sure it goes up and down increments of 1g it didn't say on the box. Right now I have Harrison samples for pellets.

Merlin - Flying Solo
as I told Shawna in my other post not right now, I am going to focus on getting to know Merlin and his personality better , he is such a quiet, regal gentle boy, an not hyper at all. I really got to know Pretty because he was solo for 9 months. The urge hasn't come to me right now.

Ino Babies?
just so you know just because you get all lutinos does not necessary mean that the dad is not split if you keep him with the same hen for a few clutches that would be a better way to determine if he is not split. Here is why you will have 50% lutino split for blue 50% ino outcome if he is split. If he is not split then all the off spring will be lutinos split for blue you could get ino's from the kids if paired correctly. You can see you may need to have a couple clutches with the same female to determine his genetics if you don't know his heritage and it is good to get to at least the grandparents. The further back the better just like humans you can have all brown eyes for 2 generations and then bam someone comes out with blue eyes .

Ino Babies?
if your female is an albino that would mean she is a blue based bird and your lutino is a yellow (green) based bird and would have to be split to the blue gene to get an ino since blue is recessive. If you knew the parents yes it would help you a bit. If they were two greens then there is probably more of chance he is not split but not necessary because there is the grandparents too and there would be a blue heritage in there that he aquired. If one of the parents were blue then he has more of a chance to be split for the gene. Make sense?
