I thank you both of you it is very interesting indeed :ausb:, I was curious since I have been faced here on the home front with pellets and nutrition.
  2. Oh good for you and what a beauty. From the picture you have I say a male Yellow face type 2 I can't see the back of the wings but he is gorgeous :ausb:. Now the count down till they meet but you have a good 30 days to bond with him and get to know him .

awe I can't believe how much your flock has grown up Shawna I remember when they were just babies :oliveb: I love the expression on Kito's face excellent snapshot
  5. can I ask what type of food (seed, pellets, veggies?) they are eating now? A lot of this can come in form of combination of different type of foods which is good especially for those who don't touch the block of iodine like mine :oliveb: Another thing that can lead to respiratory issues is low Vitamin A. I don't think it is one thing according to this article that can lead to poor respiration. I have been reading up because my budgie Pretty passed away 2 weeks ago of a respiratory infection that was undetected until it was too late. Here is a link on respiratory information http://www.birdsnways.com/wisdom/ww45eiv.htm

  15. Here is the game I will post part of a sentence, about three or four words, and the next person posting on the message board finishes the sentence and starts a new sentence. For example, the first person could post a sentence beginning with the words “What did you,” and the next person might say “have for breakfast?” Then the 2nd person might start the next one by saying “I had fried.” You can imagine how funny this game can become. Message board game players create some really funny and creative sentences with this fun message board game. So let's just start out with the example: (if this doesn't work I can make it simpler) What did you do _________________________ (next person)

As with anyone animal that is show you find that show pets are feed "better" quality food because it does promote excellent health, feather quality and more. Just as when I go to a dog show you find they are always feeding them this brand because etc... You know what I mean right . I know I am here in the US and you overseas and everything that you have may not be available here but I am interested what diet do you find top show breeders feeding their budgies? I am sure it is not just one thing but a general idea. Appreciate you responding
  17. I received this handbook from the avian vet when I took in Merlin for his wellness check. I am not promoting the use of pellets as everyone has their own views on feeding pellets. I did want to share with you the information in the book for you to read to just gain knowledge. It is well written and very interesting and it is FREE to read right here on-line or you can even order the booket for free I believe. http://www.harrisonsbirdfoods.com/learning...r/handbook.html I have been reading a lot in the breeding section about chicks dying in the egg or in the nest along with birds such as mine getting sick from respiratory or digestive issues. What I find so interesting is a lot of it is linked to nutrition. Just as humans when we don't eat a good diet our immune system breaks down too. I hope you find it informative and it is not here to create debate.
  18. We haven't done a name game in a while I know we had one way back. How about we start something like that. I will start and you use the last letter for the word. Example: I give Merlin and you use the N in Merlin's name to think of another budgie name.... who's next...
  19. Welcome Back

I agree with Bea and Nerwen I guess posting more picture of him too in the mutations section without flash would be good. Mauve even diluted is not as greyish as he is but I can say he is gorgeous boy.
  21. What are you feeding your parents? I have really started to read up on nutritional disorders and by reading this is a KEY factor to breeding good healthy babies and having less deaths in the egg and nest.
  22. Didn't think about that good visual picture
  23. if your bird smells horrible then something is wrong because birds don't have a smelly order to them maybe the feathery after they get wet but not a distinct oder. So I would think about a vet trip then. Unless it is the cage that is stinky but I am sure it is clean and even if it was somewhat dirty it still shouldn't smell like that. Pretty was a dirty bird so to speak he didn't like bathes and he never smelled.
