  1. Clearwing budgies have very light or no markings on head and wings and the body color is brightened (not lightened or diluted). So I added dilute in there because I am not sure if they share the same allele. See that is why I was leaning as Daz is toward the DFS in my head first and that is why I mentioned it also.
  2. my thoughts and I am no expert is a diluted whitewing violet I thought at first maybe a double factor spangle then the cere would go blue and the iris rings appear or a dark eyed clear where the cere would be a fleshy pink but it does look like it would go blue. right now I am searching more too
  3. okay I have been told my monitor is off so let me ask Bea I enlarged the picture the cere looks purplish pink or is it blue? Also the blue looks hued vs being the color of the bird do you agree? Let me know
  4. birds can carry different domanint genes as long as they don't share the same allele from what I understand. I do believe this is getting more complicated then needed. What was the point of doing the chart? If it was for expections there are awesome sites that you can use for expections too . makes it much easier.
  5. baby birds do not have an iris ring when they are born it is develops usually between the age of 6-12 months (4 months is usually the first molt). Some birds MAY get their iris rings early before their first molt I know Merlin did. The statement is correct you can tell if the bird is a double factor spangle usually after their first molt because this is when their iris rings will start to appear (again SOME birds may get it before their first molt). I hope clear is up .
  6. A lacewing is an albino with cinnamon markings so if they eyes are dark it is not a lacewing. I really need a better picture of the bird. From the picture I can't personally tell if it is a blue hue or if the bird is really just a light blue. If it is a blue hue it could be a double factor spangle (iris rings present) or a dark eyed clear (no iris rings) Snowdrop, I see the red eyes and with the brown marking would make her a lacewing. Bluey would be a yellow face type 2 if there is yellow bleeding into the chest making him green the more he molts you may find the more the yellowface gene spreads and this can turn a blue bird a "seafoam" green coloring. Foxy is not a hen because the brown wing. Brown wings are the cinnamon mutation and can be found on male and females. as for knowing if the bird is split for different genes that is unknown unless you know the parents, grandparents and so forth.

good to hear he is a gorgeous bird
  8. Snowdrop does he/she have red eyes? Bluebell do you have shot of the back of the wings? I suggest taking closer and clear pics of the birds back and front that really helps with no flash. The flash can sometimes make black look brown and wash out the colors. pretty flock
  9. look forward to seeing what happens
  10. There are four types of dilution: greywing, full-body-color greywing, clearwing, and dilute any one of those mutations added can dilute the violet gene to a softer paler color. Greywing is when their wing markings are grey and their body color is 50% diluted. There is also a full body greywing where the wing markings are grey but the body is still a normal bright color. Clearwing is when they have very light or no markings on their head, wings, but the body color is still bright, also known as whitewing. Dilute gene is where the head and wing markings are very light and the body is 80% washed out.
