  1. I don't use the calculator I use my head , Nerwen and others taught me well. I can't get that % down to the exact but who needs that they are only %'s. Prince is a dominant pied if he has a small spot on the back of his head (it is rumored that it could mean split to recessive but I have not seen concrete evidence in any book about that only tiels). Albinos are not split to blue albinos are blue birds with the blue erased from the body because of the abino gene. They are a white based bird. Lutinos are a green based bird with the lutino gene erasing the green from the bird leaving the base color yellow. As it stands if you breed them they will have 50% normal 50% dominant pieds If he is carrying the ino gene they babies will be visual and be females She will give the ino gene to all her males babies and they will be split but not visual. Of course there are a wide variety of recessive genes that they both may carry and any sex-linked genes that the male carries that he can give to his females. Yes you can not get a green bird from a blue budgie not possible since blue is recessive. macka where do you get recessive pied?
  2. thank you Paul
  3. There are several types of fallow varieties, but in general, the fallow's head, wing, and tail markings are brownish. The body color is gradually diluted and is most visible on the rump. The eyes are red (some varieties do not have a pink iris, others do) and the cere of the male fallow does not change normally. Adult male fallows have purple ceres. Adult female fallows have the normal white/tan/brown ceres. This is not an albino. You are thinking of a lacewing which is a cinnamon and albino combined.

No it is not dangerous to her, is she s single budgie or does she have friends?
  5. ((hugs)) on the loss and I am glad the other 3 are healthy and doing well.
  6. Paul, I am not sure how Nerwen pasts the little strip on the bird but click here http://wbo.bestofbreeds.net/budgerigarcolourguide.htm and see the strip color 398 that is the color your bird looks like. Remember they can be a tinch lighter or darker and still fall in that catagory. Check out the standards here right on BBC http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....showtopic=12640 you can see the color strip too. Grey greens are supposed to have black blue tails but because he is a spangle it gives him the clear tail. The white cheeks patches I believe I remember reading that they are common on spangles.
  7. she is a big girl , do you have a picture the back of her?

Working on a document as we speak about taming budgies. Since you have a baby really what you are doing is all you need to keep doing , he sounds tamed already you simply just want to keep him tame. Babies tamed right out of the nest are the simplest. Do you have pictures we would love to see your babies.
  9. just make sure it is on warm setting so it is not too hot (I know common sense Elly you say (Laughing out loud)) but hey just throwing it in there
  10. thank you , I agree he does look like your Prince
  11. The medicine you are speaking of is to kill mites not halt the growing process of the beak. The bird needs an avian vet and they will trim it correctly and ensure that there is no underlying disease that could be causing the issue.
  12. agree with you Kaz
  13. All birds will bathe differently. Pretty chose lettuce with water in a dish. Merlin will bath in his water bowl but nothing else. Some like a light mist, others like the faucet it really depends on the budgie. Some hate water period :rip:.
  14. they are very pretty
  15. thank you everyone :rip:
  16. very blurry but even with the blur looks male too me a very pink cere
  17. good advice the drafting is what gets the bird sick

:rip: if she is regurgitating on them yes, do you have toys for her? How many hours of night does she get? 10-12 hours is recommended
  19. even if you candle them and you think they are not fertile they have been known to hatch, many on this board have had that experience. So it is best to leave them a few days after they are due to hatch to make sure. I have read some experiences where they thought they would not hatch took them out and there was a baby in there. Good luck
  20. He took a bath, preened, ate, preened and this was the results... He settled down for a mid-afternoon nap. Since Pretty died 2 months ago, Merlin is finally starting to relax and settle in as being a single budgie. He is getting used to the fact that it is me and him . I took it slow didn't push it and letting him do everything on his own time. He has never been a scared, flightly budgie so that has always helped. He is a very sweet laid back boy.
  21. Here are some nice pictures of Merlin. He is going through a molt so if you excuse the pinheads and the scruffy look. he is a very handsome boy. You can see his blue has really deepened as he has gotten older, he is a gorgeous violet. He is a year old now, I adopted him at 8 wks last April. These pics are without flash.

Read this to make sure she is regurgitating and not vomiting BBC FAQ Regurgitation vs Vomiting If she is regurgitating it is a normal behavior. Most budgies will do this to an object they are fond of, another budgie or their owners. If she is vomiting you need to seek attention of an Avian Vet, you can find one here BBC FAQ Avian Vet Look-up I hope this helps out and welcome to our forums.
