they are all gorgeous as for the black cere I have seen them with the black beak but not cere but I only see babies here (Laughing out loud). Merlin had black on his beak too but not cere that is the only baby baby I seen. Let's see what Kaz, Daz or other's that breed say.
  6. Just a note are you colony breeding or closed breeding?
  7. Interesting how the flash bring out the blue hue on her body she is beautiful as they all are . Thank you for the update.
  8. Ideal Diet ? Your budgie's diet should consist of roughly 30% pellets, 30% seeds, and 30% fresh foods like healthy fruits and vegetables. Treats should be given sparingly and make up only about 10% of what your budgie eats. Make sure that the seed mix you buy doesn't contain many sunflower or safflower seeds as these are especially fattening. Pellets should not contain artificial colors/dyes. Wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly before feeding them to your bird as pesticides are harmful to them. Buying organic is ideal. (taken from our FAQ's and this is what our avian vet told me too) A little bit of everything is good, pellets are important to the diet but not all pellet diet .
  9. scallop because budgie means good eating : I know I guessed on that one (Laughing out loud)

If your budgie does it is very rare budgies do not use their feet to eat with but some will use their feet to get a better grip of a toy to play with but they don't use them like tiels and other parrots
  11. Please do make sure you take him to an Avian Vet not just a regular vet. You can click her for one by you http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/faqs/i...=138&artlang=en by the way welcome to our forums and keep us updated too

  16. This topic is in the PINNED topic Members Budgies - Variety in the Mutation Section Though I am not sure if I agree (Laughing out loud) the 2nd one looks like the clearwing because there are no marking on the head or wings. A dilute where there are still marking on the wings and the body is 80% washed out.
  17. which means the female is probably not carrying the fallow gene or it has not been expressed since it is recessive.
  18. Welcome to our forums , Robin is giving you the best advice. I haven't dealt with lipoma and as you said you have read and read articles so anything I pull up you probably read but I can if you want me to look on the net. If this was my budgie I know I wouldn't put them under surgery I do believe it is too risky for these little ones and since she is coping well I would leave it . That is me though. She is a pretty girl.

they always say don't mix species because budgies can annoy the bigger birds
  20. Pretty was normal till the end. In fact there was a point a month before he died during his molt he seemed quieter then usual when I think back but I just dismissed it as his molt and he perked back up. My story ends sad as you know he passed away 2 months now on the 15th of this month. I would suggest you make an appointment with the avian vet, let them do a physical exam, gram stain and feces test to ensure there is nothing go on. Bird do hid their illness and though it may be nothing I have learned through my experience never to dismiss any unsual signs. Good luck.

cooked rice is okay and can be digested easily, make sure you don't use salt when boiling, and rinse throughly and make sure the rice is not sticking together. Rice should not be given to breeding birds because parent can actually gorge their babies and in turn rice has no nutritional value and the babies can starve. I found this very interesting fact when reading about rice .
  22. that is what I thought too
