  1. Have you ever had her seen by an avian vet to rule out disease etc.. That may be one of your first steps. What does her diet consist of on a daily basis? Every bird is different so you could feed one an okay diet and have good feathers and another one may be lacking and need more.
  2. The yellowface gene 2 can spread on the whole bird or not on the whole bird. As the bird moults out more and more the yf2 gene will spread more and more making some birds look "sea foam" green all over and some don't moult out as bad and just have the yellow on their chest. YF2 is a dominant trait over YF1 and I have never read that you can remove this gene. To get the YF desired in the show ring I would assume you would bred YF1 with YF1 or YF1 to white face but never YF2 since it is dominant over YF2. I hope I answered your question.. As the 3rd bird moults out you may find that the yf gene will spread out more I see it in his neck a bit (unless that is my bad monitor). Here is an article about the YF2 gene that may help too http://www.birdhobbyist.com/parrotcolour/peter/yface01.html here are pics of our member YF2 http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index.php?showtopic=9577
  3. The coloring is too strong to be a dilute, dilutes are a sofer coloration the body is 50% or more lighter then a regular bird. I found this about rainbows: definition of a rainbow is a yellowface opaline whitewing blue from Ann aka rainbow Do you have a better picture of the back of the bird? I found this about rainbows: definition of a rainbow is a yellowface opaline whitewing blue from Ann aka rainbow Here is a picture of her Rainbow http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v333/Rai...1/Rainbow_1.jpg
  4. other chromosomes that have nothing to do with determining sex of a bird.

I have seen a couple questions asking about what the cere of a male recessive pied looks like (this can apply for any of the mutations that cere stays pink) and hens of the lacewing or albino variety. Here are pictures to help you out. Here is Pretty's cere in breeding condition Here is his cere not in breeding condition Both picture where taken with no flash, I stopped using flash because it makes the colors look different. These are Kaz's birds: Lacewing hen (albino) Lacewing cock These have also been linked to the FAQ section under Breeding Age

    cute picture
  10. They are all stunning, I tend to favor the yellow face blues spanges (I wish we had them here in our area), they are gorgeous.
  11. Scooter would automatically fly over to Bella's cage as soon as I let him out. Contact like this defeats the purpose of quarantine. Everyone does what they want . I do want to add this is why quarantine needs to be done in 2 separate rooms. So when they come out they don't fly toward each other. It defeats the purpose if you have them in the same room or if the door is open so they can fly to the other room. It is also best so they can not hear each other this is where you find that birds go crazy and want to see each other and then you break down as a owner and shorten the quarantine. Quarantine is extremely important you would feel devestated if your new bird because it was ill infected or even killed your existing bird or flock because of your own actions. I am sorry if I sound harsh but it is a reality with birds. Do people get away with shorten quarantines yes but some don't so please quarantine no matter what.

  22. I don't believe so because it is 1 gene meeting another gene making the mutation know what I mean. Plus they could be carrying it we just don't know. Let's see what Nerwen says
