- New Babes And There So Cool
What do your breed your spangles too to get such markings?- David
RSPCA probably doesn't have an avian vet but ask if the vet was a general vet or registered avian vet that is the key . Keep us updated and him and would love to see more pics of course.- New Babes And There So Cool
hommer they are gorgeous I am always amazed how defined your spangles markings are.- Mom Is Not Feeding The Baby Help
Excellent news and thank you for the update- New Cage!
They look very happy and pleased in their new cage Nathan. Congrats on the purchase- G'day From 40degrees South
Millet only during hand sessions of taming soothes the beast... I can't remember is he clipped and if he is are his flights coming back that is another factor at least for me. Pretty got really bold when his flights were coming back in .- A Few Wet Budgies
Oh that first picture is too funny Wonderful pics!- David
It is hard to tell a budgies age he could be just unwell and have abnormalities as Pheobe suggested. Have you taken him to an avian vet? This is where I would start personally myself.- Paris And Honks New Bubs
Only see the head in most pics and they are cute cute cute.... What were the parents?- Brocolli
Either way is good. Raw is healthier because the nutrients are not cooked out. Great question- Bird Can't Chirp....
That is a good decision on your mom's part and was your cockatiel by your budgie a lot whatever brought her down your tiel could have so watch for symptoms. After Pretty died I got Merlin into the avian vet for a complete check-up to ensure he was okay. ((hugs))- Some Genetic Questions
A hen only needs 1 sex-linked gene since she can not mask she has xy genes so she only has 1 x gene which carried the actual sex linked mutation. A male has xx so he will need 2 sex-linked genes to express the sex-linked gene. For those who say xy is boy and xx is girl that is correct in human genetics but not bird genetics (I know odd). Hope that answers your question.- Tail Feathers Not Quite Right
it is always good to rearrange cages any how I do it at least 1 a month therefore they don't get possive about any toys etc...(which I know Baby is not) but for those that get obessed with a certain toy and such :rip:- Some Genetic Questions
for number three, what if there is no dominant gene? then the recessive gene will one show, but you need 2 recessive genes to show the mutation so if there is no dominant gene present that means the bird has 2 recessive genes. Example: 2 blues genes (they are both recessive) or 2 recessive pied genes- Some Genetic Questions
5. males can be split for a recessive gene right(not sex-linked recessive)???? ** they can be split for both, hens can not be split for a sex-linked but they can a recessive gene 6. What is the chance of getting a sex linked baby if for example the female is albino(sex-linked) and the male a blue recessive pied(recessive)?? You will get no visual albinos, and the hen will give the ino gene to the male and he will be split for it because he needs to 2 ino genes (1 from each parent) to be an ino male. 7. And what about sex-linked and dominant??? What about it 2 different genes and they act in 2 different ways. So if you are asking can a bird be a sex-linked mutation and dominant mutation and show it visually the answer is yes. You can have an opaline dominant pied (example)- David
- Some Genetic Questions
1. Yes 2. yes 3. NO recessive genes show only when the bird carrys 2 recessive genes if they only had 1 then the other dominant gene would mask the recessive mutation. If the parents are both carrying the recessive gene of say blue then you would have blue babies but if both parents where greens and not split you would never have blue babies. 4. Yes :rip:- Need Help Computer Dummy
You can PM Daz he may be able to help you out there :rip:- Please Help, Lukie Is All Fluffed Up All The Time!
Good to hear that he is better :rip: everyday is another acheivement....don't give up.- G'day From 40degrees South
He could be going in to a molt and hormonal yes If it is regular poo yes leave it there they will remove it with cleaning- Budgerigar Of The Month
Thank you :rip:, your is wonderful :angel1:- David
glad you rescued him is does he look that way because of the way he perches or is he fluffed up? He is very pretty, are you sure a he if his cere is during brown though? He looks like a dominant pied and in that case I am going to say you have a female not a male because his cere would be blue. :rip: - New Babes And There So Cool
