  8. Pheobe a member here has dealt with this type of situation. Though in any situation that involves any type of illness in a pet you must look at the quality of life. If they are having more bad days then good, if they quality is not there anymore, if they are in constant pain or discomfort, if they can't get around anymore etc... Only you can answer these questions as you know your pet personally. As humans we hold on too long at times. I am one guilty of that because it is so hard to let go of the physical being because once they are gone then we have to mourn and the pain is there. If you find he is having great days, and he is happy, singing, chirpying etc... or do you find just the opposite. We have an FAQ about euthansia in are articles. Welcome back
  9. Yes that can happen with shiny bells too, Merlin loves his bells but has not become attached.

  16. You should buy a couple of different types of perches that you can put long ways across and keep the middle clear so the budgie can fly back and forth. Personally a rope perch is wonderful because it is soft and nice for their feet along with a natural type branch perch that you can either make or buy. Throw out the dowel (or keep them) for to get the bird off the curtain or teaching to step up but they are not good for the feet because they dont' give any sense of texture, different width to excerise their feet. A cage like that can have around 3 toys, a preening one, maybe bells, I would stay away from mirrors and imitation birds because many birds become protective of these type of toys, a nice swing etc... You will also need a cuttlebone.
  17. could be anything, a shadow, a noise etc... You may want to keep a nightlight if you don't already hugs to Sara
  18. It means that your male bird is carrying the lutino gene. Sex-linked genes can be carried by the male and not be visible because he needs 2 of those genes to express example the lutino, cinnamon, or opaline gene etc... That is why you will find more females because carrying 1 of those genes they automatically express the gene and it is visible. Bird genetic is different in humans females are xx and males are xy but in birds it is opposite males are xx and females are xy.Hope that makes sense DEC is a combo of the recessive pied gene and the clearflight gene neither of these genes are sex-linked.In fact the recessived pied gene is recess and the clearflight gene is a dominant gene. These genes are not carried on the x (sex-linked) gene at all but a different chromosome (allele) completely)
  19. Your welcome keep us updated on your progress :dbb1:
  20. 6 would be the best expect for the top because I like flat tops where you can extend the cage by putting a playgym on top. It would be big enough for 1 budgie not more this is my personal opinion.
  21. glad he is doing well (Laughing out loud) budgies are loud especially if they are males and they are flirting or calling love to see updated picture of him when you have a chance
  22. post me a recessive pied please
