I agree with Neat and Kaz and the vet it probably is more of a sexual thing, we advise no mirrors or reflective objects in cages now a days because they view it as another budgie and they can become obessived and possive about such toys.
  7. I agree with Neat, if I was in your shoes I would have accepted the injection too not knowing. Biggest Hugs.

You are a RICH RICH woman Kaz!!, all I have been getting is that BAD STUFF :budgiedance: that I accidently posted a couple days back.
  9. An Update: Over the last couple days I have taken away the millet at night and in the morning giving him veggies & seed, he picks at it then around 12 I will give him a millet spray. So today, I decided to do something different, I let him out of his cage for his normal routine but instead I took his veggies & seed and decided to work with him. I held his greens in my fingers and he went to town on them then I spreaded some seed on my desk and I used my finger and started to peck at them like a budgie...and what does he do he eyes them and starts eating them like crazy. He didn't chose a seed I watched him he ate whatever was around. So the question is why oh why is he being so fussy in his cage?
  10. This is worth a bump, I am not sure if anyone remember this article that was pinned, it talks about what we have been preaching how the body takes a toll on the breeding hen.

I think there is a protective issue certaining going on either she doesn't want Dave by you and is keeping him away or she is chasing him away because she doesn't want you by Dave (I think I wrote that right). I would make sure that when you are working with Dave that he is out of the cage and she is in the cage. She could be going through a hormonal state right now and/or starting a molt too. Hen can be like this. Do make sure you are giving your birds at least 10-12 hours of cage cover time you can actually increase it to 12-14 for a week and see if that helps calm her protective hormonal state. Keep us updated.

  13. If the resize fails they just put in a link , thank you.
  14. Very nice to meet you. I am sorry to hear about Mac, so many times I advise people do not let their budgies on the floor. Merlin is trained to stay off the floor he doesn't like to be down there anymore now . Look forward to see pictures of your newest budgie, we have an excellent article in the FAQ about taming budgies you may want to look at. How exciting to get 2 bush budgies, would love to see a picture of them too make sure that you keep them quarantined from Rook for at least 30 days if you decide to introduce them. You probably already know that being in training but just putting it out there .

  16. I do the same thing make everything spic and span and don't forget to vaacum the couches out, I had an incident one time and now I always do that lol, someone was looking for something they lost and it is amazing how many crumbs get in those cushions...have a fun time!
  17. I would say take better pictures in the daylight without a flash and repost, make sure your pictures are no larger then 640x480, use the macro setting on your camera too so they are not blurry.
  18. YOU MUST, submit that for Budgie of the Month that is just way too adorable
  19. Here is a picture of Pretty yawning (I have never seen Merlin do it yet)
  20. Note, when you give berries of any sort make sure they are organic, berries have very thin skins and if they have been sprayed with pesticides can be dangerous for your budgies. Good information.
  21. Note that potatoes should be cooked before serving, raw potatoes are are on the unsafe list for budgies. Good information.

Liv, that is funny milk makes me feel yucky too .... Yes so far but the day has begun and I really haven't done anything yet . Have you celebrated your birthday within the last 3 months?
  23. The reason why there are stains above the cere is because a Vitamin A deficiency can cause the respiratory lining to break down causing a respiratory issues (that came from my avian vet). Again just make sure all these foods are on the safe list for feeding. Excellent information. NOTE, too much Vitamin A is bad because it can not be disposed by the body like Vitamin B so you can overdose your bird I would assume with a vitamin type of additive not food's itself.
