  9. I will say that it sounds like there is a lot of interaction going on but not physical touch interaction with working on how to teach your bird to step up. Though your mom is home all day with him he is still scared of the hand because you have not gotten him to trust you in the next step. All budgies are different, you can't compare the one you had to the one you have now. Your budgie reminds me of my grandma's budgie where she talked to him all the time, he would run and give her kisses from inside the cage BUT you could not touch him because she never did any hand taming. In the FAQ section is an excellent article about taming and how to start getting them to trust your hand etc...please read that, it is what you need to start doing. Your budgie has bonded with you but what you want to do is go to the next step and that article will help you do that.

Glad you remembered quarantine but always (next) don't even introduce them to your flock at all. They are very sweet, you have already received good advice.

  14. Do you know what the parents are? or a picture of the front of the bird too. This will help. I see either a Sky Blue Recessive Pied OR a Double Factor Pied (I think Spangle too)...if you know that parents please tell us or post a picture. Thank you.

  21. Go through the different receipes in the FAQ section, Egg food is an excellent source of nutrients for a hen breeding, millet is also another great fattening source and unsalted nuts too. Why do you think she is thin? What are you feeding her presently?
  22. Elly replied to Neat's topic in Food And Nutrition
You would have to redry them or you could give them mush? I would personally go and get unsalted there is so much salt in nuts that I think it is pretty hard to get it all out.
  23. this is an excellent question and I am going to see if I can get something together with the other breeders and get an FAQ in there with pics.
  24. Chrissy, I am a state over here in Ohio . I didn't realize you lived so close. Anyways, cheese is constipating, yogurt is a better source because it also has good natural bacteria for digestion but not a lot of diary because it can either cause the runs or constipation. We have chicken here so I think that is a better choice if you want to give them that OR for protein Egg Food that you can make and that receipe is in the FAQ's in fact there are quite of few receipes in the FAQ's that you can use for your birds .
  25. no the sling will work no matter what .
