Well it has been almost a couple weeks since we had our strike on food and almost died. That whole thing threw him into a molt and he lost some weight so here he is recovering. I know he is still on the thin side but he is eating well again, I am still watching the food bowl and the husks are increasing along with eating his millet later on the day and his veggies/fruits too. Can you say PIN feathers...maybe I should use that for the FAQ's to explain what they are

Why Pie? I know it doesn't have the grey on the tail and edges but we also looking at dominant pied playing a part in here so that can create a different effect. This is also the same bird that is under Kaz's What I'm I.
  4. Oh Yes this is the bird I just commeted on in the other post I didn't realize it was this one.... I don't know much about the BES but what I see with the my eyes is a GreyGreen Fullbody Greywing Dominant Pied.
  5. Do you have an animal warden from the city that too that does inspections? Where I live we would call the warden first and then the RSPCA, I am not sure where you live how it works.
  6. Too much sodium is not good for the body though so do be careful especially in birds. That is what worries me about salted nuts, I would use unsalted.
  7. I would say a hen like the others the white nasal rings are very prominant and hens can have light blue ceres which indicates they are out of breeding condition.
  8. I agree and the KEY is recessive pied...there are other pieds that do develope iris rings.
  9. It is like a Great Dane and a Yorkie, nice pics.
  10. Pie your birds look wonderful, they look so clean cut not an ounce of molting (no scruffy looking birds here ) , I love when they are done molting and look like they put on a "fresh" coat of feathers.

    good to hear.

They are gorgeous Kaz this one the body color is too bright to be a dilute, I would say this is a Grey Green Dominant Pied and would go with Full Body Greywing. I agree there is a degree of dilution but not 80% like in a dilute. But that is me.

Becareful with berries always buy them organic not sprayed as they hold the pesticides and can be toxic. . Good information Neat and SW.

  15. Elly replied to pixi's topic in What Sex Is My Budgie?
Check out our FAQ section about sexing your budgie , it has great information and pics. Good question you just never though there are many different "things" that go around on how to sex budgies.
  16. Let's just unpin it Kaz , I will do if you don't think that is okay you can take further action.
  17. You want him to have that as a choice only you, it sounds cruel but it is not, you are gently forcing him to trust you just as much as he trusts his cage. I had to do this with Pretty or I would have gotten no where with him. Everytime I had him out I covered or moved his cage it worked like a charm within 2 weeks he was okay and realized that it is okay to be with me and he can always go back home. Right now if you don't do it you are enabling the fear he has of you.

Welcome to the forums, when you take a close up make sure your camera is on the macro setting (indicated by a flower sometimes) close the shutter 1/2 way and let it focus, try to take the picture in natural light vs a flash.

Wow what a flock, would love to see pictures and your non-budgies you can always post pics of them in OFF TOPIC . Welcome!!
  20. gout is a type of arthritis which is usually flared by high protein diets.
  21. 5 weeks 1 day either way he should know which rabbits are pregnant and not bring them to a market or display them period as that is not healthy for the parent rabbit or the babies.
  22. Yellow over grey can make the green affect so Libby I believe you are right. Did you buy the birds at the same time? If so I bet they are sibling too . They are very cute, have you entered their picture in the Budgie of the Month Contest if not you should.
  23. They are beautiful, if you feel that they are over weight maybe best to weigh them but once they join the aviary in 30 days after quarentine they will probably slim down if they are flying and having fun .

I agree with the episode I had with Merlin I believe the warmth was part of his recovery and I still have it quite warm because he is going through a heavy molt because of being sick. Keep it nice and warm for at least a week.
