Yay Saffy's Fostered Egg Hatched!
Well it survived the night. It hatched around 1 am this morning. I'm just worried, because my last baby got squashed and died only one day after hatching. Should I put a divider up in the nest box? Well I put the babies back in the nest box. I'll just have to hope that the little one doesn't get squashed. I think it has a good chance as Isis sits on it but the bigger babies sit around Isis.

Female Continuously Laying Eggs
Don't worry. She will be fine. my 5 year old female laid 11 eggs and she is fine. Don't seperate her from the male as she needs him to feed her and she will carry on laying eggs regardless of whether he is there or not, they just wouldn't be fertile that's all. Leave them be for now they are fine. Go read up about breeding budgies some more,

Yay Saffy's Fostered Egg Hatched!
Yay one of Saff's eggs that I fostered to Isis has hatched. However Isis's babies are already 2 weeks old. I'm worried that they will trample the new baby. I don't think i can really give the baby back to Saffy as she is staying ff the nest now and she let all her other eggs go cold last night. What do you think I should do. For now I am going to take the two older babies out and put them in a box in side the cage so that the father can feed them. Is this a good idea? Help! Thankyou very much for your replies.

What/who Does Your Budgie Flirt With?
Izzy likes to flirt with the cage bars. Arkady likes to flirt with his little bell preener toy, or my watch, or finger. Sometimes the two boys flirt with each other at exactly the same time, both doing their little happy dances in the opposite direction and then coming back at each other to reunite their head bobbing. Once Arkady flirted with nothing. He was sitting on the perch bobbing his head and flirting with fresh air.

Avairy Full Of Dead Budgies
Wow. My goodness. The poor family and the poor boy. His handraised Cockateil. That's horrible. They obviously loved their birds very much. Poor family. I know I just couldn't bear it if I came home to something like that. Any further news on what is happening with the two budgies? The family might like to meet you and thank you for saving their birdies.

Incubation And Fostering Question, About My Budgies
Saffy doesn't seem to be incubating her eggs so much any more. She seems to be off the nest a lot more. So I candled the eggs, found 4 that looked like they were fertile. Isis is still incubating her two unfertile eggs, so I took two fertile eggs from Saffy's clutch and put them under Isis. I hope this was the right thing to do as Isis has her two chicks which may spoil the eggs. But once the eggs hatch I'll put the chicks back in with Saffron. Is this a good move? Thank you for your help.

Avairy Full Of Dead Budgies
Wow. Kerrie. You poor thing. I'm glad you did check the avairy for those budgies' sakes. I would have done exactly as you have done and I commend you. I don't think you'll get into trouble or anything. It is worth it for those two little budgies and the third one that had its suffering relieved before it died.

Let The Breeding Begin!
Well the babies are now 10 and 9 days old. The older one is a yellowface spangle and has an orange beak. The younger one looks like a blue normal so far and has a black beak. They are so cute. They are so funny when I put them in wood shavings outside their nest box, especially when they have to poop. The spread out their little wings and then wiggle their bottoms, like they are dancing. They are sooooo cute!
