  1. Are you able to call the clinic and tell them your situation?? Maybe you could get his home number?
  2. Well. The thre little babies are turning out great! They are 3 and a half weeks old and already coming out of the nest. The purple eyed baby has turned out to be a violet, opaline, yellowface type 2, cinnamon spangle!!!! Then there is the yellowface type 2, cobalt, opaline spangle. And cobalt, full body colour greywing spangle.!!! They are so gorgeous. I wish I had a camera to show you them all.
  3. Wow. That's smart. See, birds don't just mimic, they also understand a fair bit of what you and they say. That is just precious.
  4. I just found this post now. i am so sorry for your loss. Poor little Jim. He was lucky to have you. Rest in peace little Jim.
  5. Good luck Bea. You are the best person to take care of little Ozzie. I wold stick with the one vet for now, as there are often more than one way to treat a disease and usually the situation needs to be taken into account. Different vets treat things slightly differently. Best of luck with your Ozzie pie.
  6. Then the one with black eyes is probably a yellowface DF spangle
  7. Ya. But it is not a small transport cage. It is a normal sized cage for two budgies. They aren't housed in the cage. I'm a student and I can't really afford to buy new cages. I am just thinking that with all metal, no mater how new it is, you will always encounter rust, even with new powder coated cages. I've had budgies for ten years and I have had that cage for ten years and I have never ever had a problem with metal poisoning.
  8. Unfortunately I don't have a camera any more, due to moving. But I intend to buy one oneday, if I'm not too poor. :ausb: The little cinnamon looks like it might be a violet cinnamon opaline yellowface 2 spangle!!!
  9. I have been in the process of moving, so I don't have a camera any more , but I can tell you that I have a little violet opaline girl, (gorgeous) and a full body greywing yellowface type 2 spangle boy. )))
  10. Well the little babies are starting to feather up now. So far we have a little YF2 cinnamon spangle And a cobalt blue spangle And.. a yellowface type 2 opaline spangle!!!! Wow I am so keeping it!!
  11. Hey Kirby. Look at my post about my babies, and member's spangles and I have a picture of Itha my Yellowface type 2 cinnamon spangle.
  12. I love my cages.
  13. I also have this other cage ((Laughing out loud), I have heaps of cages for some reason , probably due to my rats and canaries). Any way it is small and I'm using it to transport them to my new flat tomorrow. Problem is the roof has all this rust all over it. So yesterday I spent 4 hours scratching the rust off with sand paper. After I got as much as I could, I got the great idea, of covering any unreachable rust with olive oil. This way the olive oil seals the rust and prevents it from spreading. Which would be good if you wanted to paint over it later. Anyway I put the budgies in the cage today and what do they do? They start licking the olive oil off of the cage!!! Then I sprayed it with some sour grape. That sorta worked. Some funny budgies like sour grape Anyway they have stopped chewing and will be out of the cage tomorrow.
  14. By the looks of those plum eyes, you might have recessive pieds or cinnamons. Depends what the parents carry.
  15. If you look in the Breeding help section. Look for my topic "My 5 year old budgie is going to lay an egg". Karen posted some methods for splay leg treatment in there.
  16. Or Sassy (short for Sasquatch ) Congratulations on your winnungs Kaz, that's awesome.
  17. They is also grey on the underside of his tail too.
  18. You might have to go about seperating them gradually. Putting them in cages next to each other. etc. Shifting them, apart from each other, a little every day, until they are in seperate rooms from each other. And when you go to seperate them into different rooms. Do it for 1 hour the first day and then put them back in the same, room, but as far away as possible from each other. Then extend this time period every day. Another thing is to remember to not pay any attention to them while they are screaming. And if they stop, lavish heaps of attention on them and give them millet and treats etc. I hope this helps.

Yes, beleive it or not, they do know when to use particular words and phrases, because humans will use them at a particular time. This is the same way a baby human learns to speak.

When they state whether a bird has an iris ring or not, it is actually stating whether the iris ring is white or easily visible. All budgie, birds (and every vertebrate animal with eyes) has an iris ring. Just for some the iris ring is the same colour as the pupil and the "white" (and in some cases blacks) of their eyes.
  21. A tip to dealing with black nails. If you look on the underside of the nail you can actually see where the quick stops, as the nail is just like ours and doesn't go all the way around the claw. I find this is good with all animals. :budgiedance:
  22. I would say that you should retire her completely. Because she tried to do it last time, tried again and succeeded to kill. She will do it again.
  23. I have removed the bridge. I was thinking what sort of paints can you use to cover rust, that are safe for budgies? I have another cage that is starting to go a bit rust and I would like to fix it up as it is a very good cage. Another point that I was thinking of (it's a bit controversial) some birds react very easily to rusts etc and others don't. Some, if exposed to small amounts over time (not recommending this) can develop and immunity to it. Like the Roman emperor who drank a little bit of poison everyday to develop an immunity to it and then when he was finally poisoned he didn't die. However not good to try with budgies or yourself. EVER Curious what the toy bell was made of. While doing my research I discovered that even zinc is added to budgie toys.
  24. Yea. I agree with Lovey, he probably has some enlhish bird in him. Such a little porkball
  25. Check on him every three hours.
