  1. Wow Shawna, you poor thing. We will all definately be thinking of you. As Kaz said, make sure you look after your self, and stay happy, that way Lucas will stay happy. We all wish you and Lucas the best of luck.
  2. Maybe you could offer to take them form her. I think this friend of yours needs a good lecturing!!!!
  3. 1. How old was your budgie (s) when you purchased him/her Arkady: 7 weeks Isis: 6 months Emmett: 4-5 months 2. If you tamed your budgie right out of the nest, when did you start taming and handling the chick? At 1 week old for the twins, Alo, Nikio and her brother. 2 weeks old for Itha and her brothers All are very tame apart from Nikio's brother. The twins and Alo are especially tame. 3. Was your budgie tame a little or not at all? Arkady: Not really, but he is very outgoing and smart Isis: Not at all <still isn't Emmett: Not tame, had him one day so far and he is going well. 4. When you tamed your budgie was he the only budgie, or did you buy them in pairs, or was he an addition? Did your first budgie stay tame, and how did the taming go for the additional budgie (s) Arkady: Addition - stayed relatively tame after meeting other budgies- is a huge socialite Isis: Addition - still not tame, but she is taming up as I am currently working on her Emmett: Addition - will find out in months time Izzy: Addition - Lost a little tameness after meeting Saffron, wouldn't let me scratch his head anymore 5. What is your best tip you can give (don't say everyone else gave good tips (Laughing out loud)) what did YOU find worked well for you and WHY? For Arkady I used the slow approach method ie. feeding millet, then putting hand near, then letting him step up, then taking him out and then playing with him. For Saffron, she was tame, until, I used the hold method, where you hold them in your hands and don't let them go - This did not work, infact it made her worse, and she has never been tame since. I have never found it to work on any budgie For Isis and Nikio's brother, I try to take them out of the cage, by catching them with my hands (always moving my hands slowly and deliberately. This has proved very good for flighty birds and has worked on both of them, so much so that i can now get them to step up now and Isis is over a year old. With Emmett I am using the combined catch and slow approach method and he is doing very well. One tip that I think is really good, is to hold your budgie in your hand, like you would when clipping its wings, or toenails, or just inspecting it, but holding it losely, so the budgie can escape easily. I find that this teaches them not to fear being held as they realise that they will always be able to get away and will always be let out of the grip eventually.
  4. I would think that metal, would lose heat very quickly. Plastic is more hygenic than wood. The hens like to chew the wooden boxes. Wooden boxes, would be the best insulated.

If you are going to put your budgie next to a window, don't put him in direct sunlight, put him to one side of the window, otherwise he can get heatstroke.
  6. Identical twins aren't exactly identical though. Even clones of animals can have slightly differing markings.
  7. I am so proud of Emmett!!!! He is already eating and drinking while I watch him and I only got him yesterday. I have also managed to feed him millet by hand! He already has a blue cere and iris rings, but his baby bars are still there. So I'm guessing he is about 4 or 5 months old. He is progressing really well, tamewise. I decided though, that because he is a bit older than most babies when you buy them, that I would clip his wings. Well first I clipped all his primaries apart from the first 3 on each wing, however he still flew like nothing was wrong, so after a short chase with a t-shirt around the room I caught Emmett and cut off all his primaries bar the first ones and he still flies relatively well on that, but he can't gain much height, so it is good. I have his cage next to my bed, where I spend alot of time studying and sleeping so I'm near him alot.
  8. A brand new cereal!!!!.... Footloops!!!!!!
  9. Well today I went on a budgie hunt and saw this gorgeous little bright green spangle male. I have been looking for a bright green budgie lately as I have no yellow based budgies at all, they are all white based!!!!. Plus I needed another boy, because when I sell my two boy babies, I will have a 1:2 ratio of boys to girls. 3 boys to 6 girls!!! Anyway Emmett was the clown of the avairy, I didn't want another spangle, but he had such character that I had to choose him over a yellow based rec pied boy and some opalines. He has a very gorgeous little chirp too. Here are some pics of him. Again they are taken with my webcam, so the quality is ****, but here he is.
  10. That budgie is so definately dyed, some way or another. Look at the name of the picture it is 1_april.
  11. Basically you need a yellowbutt blue. hee hee
  12. She could be a mottled budgie also.
  13. ...he found the evil red eyed budgie had burned down the store!!!! Hamster cried the whole way home and told...
  14. My budgies do it all the time. They love it. It is like their little spaz, to let off steam. I especially like it when they hold on to the perch flap like crazy and then they flap so hard that they let go and start hovering. It is so cute.

I don't know. It is really hard to say. I thought girl at first, but the cere is quite pink in the other shots.
  16. All male birdies, flirt with their toys. It is very natural. Put his toys and swing back in and let him have some fun.
  17. ...in agreeance with the cat and told him about hhow he likes to fill his cheeks with...
  18. Awwe they are all so cute. Here are my favourites: Sorry I have a lot. This is little Itha after a bath This is Izzy looking gorgeous One of my only flying pics of Arkady. i like this one cause you can actually see some blue on him as well as the green. And this one is just funny. I like this one. It has nice composition. :rip: These guys are just cute. The youngest is Itha This is one of the first pics i took of Arkady, when he still had his baby pink cere. he looks so cute and fluffy on that big perch And this one speaks for itself. 1 day home and he was already proclaiming his title: Lord Arkady. :ausb:
  19. I don't think copper is bad.
  20. I would say female. The cere is kinda crusty looking around the edge and is very white.
  21. Haha. My little opaline spangle baby is called Kito.
  22. ...the cat started to swell up like a sponge. Then from inside ran...
  23. It might be a good idea to fit a screen over the door to act as a double door and prevent budgies from escaping. You know like those dangly screen things they hang in doorways in dairies.
