okay so I haven't giving you guys a story in a while, But here is one from Monday!!!

I was out looking for a stupid fish tank filter ( find out now discontimued) ened up in a Pet Super store

at west - I have been there a few times before and the bird seed is always low if not full of husks and next to no water

That was until i spoke to the young boy that was wroking there :( Grrrrr

So back on track , I stopped to look at the rabbits as Santa is giving the kids a mini lop :D at Xmas,

I was starring in the cage for ages and notice in that back of the " holding pen " something ...

I ask the shop assistant ( they young boy again ) if i could have a look, the stupid idiot let Me put my hands in

and what have you ... to pull out

A DEAD BABY RABBIT! Still little and FURLESS!

Now fair enough these things happen but i asked the assistant if the rabbit was due to have her litter he said no this is them from 5 weeks ago :D :D :o :o :o

THAT IS RIGHT THAT CAGE HADN'T BEEN CLEANED OUT IN AT LEAST 5 WEEKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I advised him that he is lucky that I had found it and not the RSPCA -

I asked for the bathroom and sanitiser for my hands and left!!!!!

Went to the other shop of that company and reported it the shop owner! To his so called disgust :budgiedance:

So yeah that was a nice day :(

That is abhorable!!!!!

What I want to know is how the smell didn't give any ideas.

ew, it must have been all mummified.

It's bad enough it was hairless as it would be under 2 weeks of age! Bunnies aren't weaned until 4 weeks!!! Also the fact he had not checked on it in that time even to see if it needed cleaning out. That's disgusting! Report them instantly Neat. That's an RSPCA case!!! Starvation and neglect is a huge offence! And the fact he had not realised that the food (if there was any) was not being eaten. :budgiedance: >:D

That is weird. I would have thought that by now it would have rotted or mummified.

Maybe he meant it was 5 weeks old?

Did it look fairly recently dead?

Stiffness tends to disappear after a day or two. Unless it was stiff because it was mummified.

Yeah but the babies that were alove and furry looked like normal rabbits ( size and stuff)

the dead one fitted just over my hand ... I didn't even think about the rigger :D Maybe it was stuck inside or something and she only passed it that day?

Maybe. Sure is weird though. It may have been a deformed baby. Anything. Can't say unless I can see it.

5 weeks 1 day either way he should know which rabbits are pregnant and not bring them to a market or display them period as that is not healthy for the parent rabbit or the babies.

If the doe had contact with another male after she had the first litter it may have been a new baby

Yes that's true MB I hadn't thought about that. A baby that couldn't be looked after, or was aborted, because of stress from being moved, being in a pet shop, or cause of the other baby rabbits. Either way it was dead.
