Sparkle Roxy And Atlas. Naptime! Hopefully my resizing worked & you're all able to see the photos alright. I hope you enjoyed them Link to comment

Any suggestions?? Hi FF, Jack and Miss Galen are really great looking birds, in nice condition. Some of your birds look like they need to go on a diet... mine are the same Feathers. Link to comment

For example, if you put their food lower it promotes them to climb up and down bars to get the food or fly up and down vs putting it level with the majority of their perches. Food foraging is a excellent way for them to use up energy stored by moving around, looking for food etc... Therefore you are not putting any of your light weights in danger and giving your heavy weights something to do. Also more nutritional food and cutting out fatty food will help too (you may already do that) just like humans I am sure some birds are more prepostioned to gain weight vs others. I hope that helps. But it would have to be on a better day ... the highways are still messed from this storm. I don't know which mound of snow my car is buried under. To settle the confusion, Atlas is a she - much against my better judgment, I listened to the girl at the store & picked out a boy's name b/c she insisted I was mistaken & that he was male (this resulted at the time in me having a 5:3 female/male ratio instead of evening up the flock (even though I don't breed) so I was quite upset. Hence, the name confusion Although I also do think Atlas is stunning, for the hope of some socialization she must be kept with other birds - she's very much "monkey see monkey do", so when she sees my other birds playing on me she'll get curious & become "brave" enough to come over...it's quite comical to watch! You don't have to give them less food but what you can do is make them work more for their food by letting them forage for some of their food, placing food dishes in areas that promotes them to climb up and down to get their food. Captive Foraging BBC Link Thanks for the link Elly, I'll certainly check it out. I do already keep their bird seed at the bottom of the cage, I give them veggies on a consistent basis & I buy them the expensive seed that has the egg biscuit, extra nutrients in it to try & keep it a bit healthier. Still though, I'm always open for my ideas, andforaging sounds pretty interesting, so hopefully they like it too! :hap: Link to comment
