  1. I'd just like to add about the temperature issue, budgies in the wild deal with both incredibly hot and incredibly cold temperatures for varying lengths of time. Overnight and in winter the Australian bush/outback can get to below freezing temperatures. Budgies are extremely hardy little birds and i'd say the most important thing you should have in your aviary is a good sized area that has 3 covered walls to block snow and wind. For the exposed areas you can get some plastic sheeting to roll down over the wire in snowy and windy conditions and overnight in cold weather.
  2. You can purchase these bits of stretchy material very cheap on ebay which come in heaps of sizes and colours, they do the same job as the plastic bit on most cages.

  7. When i brought Alfred some of you may remember that i mentioned breeding him with Jelly (mauve baby) later this year....well, by some freaky chance they're paired up! It's like they read my mind because i was watching and they were snuggling and everywhere Jelly went Alf followed. Looks like budgie loooove to me!
  8. I've had those gross moths in a pet shop seed mix and egg and biscuit mix from the bad pet shop before. It's gross!

Birds are amazing creatures, that's for sure! Some people can talk with their mouths shut, has anyone seen a comedian called Strassman? He's hilarious with all his dummy's.

Do budgies need to open their beaks to tweet? This questions been bothering me ever since i noticed Blinkie preening and tweeting at the same time so i finally am bothering to ask. :glare:
  11. They're taking too long. Blinkie was at it all day yesterday....literally! :glare: If they put in half as much effort as he does i'm sure they'd have a million eggs by now. :hap:

Gosh! You must be strong, i get tired if i even hold my jack russell for too long! :(Laughing out loud): It's very nice to see you.
  13. Blinkie would be good at breeding....he practices so much on his perch that he'd not need more than one attempt.
  14. How people can treat innocent birds like that i just will never understand! Thank you for taking a stand and reporting him!!
  15. So what's Pika's trick? How did he shrink himself?! :(Laughing out loud): Great photos, i love them all!
  16. Awww! They're so cute together!

Well i was bored so i got the camera out to see if i could get some cute photos of Mr Stinks doing stuff...i think i suceeded.....even if it took me an hour or more. *preen preen preen* You mean...... *smooch* ......you love me?! *puff* Don't forget to wash behind your ears! And under your leggies! *splish* *splash* Well heeeeellooooo GORGEOUS! Do i look like i did it to you? What do you mean i look guilty??? I swear.....i've never seen that chick before.....it can't be mine! Lord Blink, ruler of all he sees!
  18. I love that toy! I want one for myself!! Here's some photos of tiny budge. That ball it's besides is about 3cm tall. There's Blinkie in front of it to hopefully show you just how tiny it is.
  19. When i make mine i get a hard boiled egg, bread crumbs, bird seed, and my birds favourite veggies. You microwaves the egg shell for about 2 mins and smash that into a fine powder. You add that to mashed hard boiled egg. Sprinkle some bread crumbs over the top just enough to spread right through the mix. Add a tablespoon or two of the budgies seed mix and then mix some finely chopped veggies in as well and stir it all together.
  20. How can they get their foot stuck? They're twisted up so tight.

    Oh! I love them! :budgiedance:
  23. Yeah, that's the one. They seem very good.
  24. And just one more photo....this is to show the miracle of the mirror! My little man sitting on his new cholla perch before the days over! So proud *wipes tear from eye*
  25. I took some photos of Blinkie's cage all rearranged with the new stuff in it. He's sitting on the new rope perch...i really like this type of rope perch cause it doesn't seem to have a wire through it so it's so easy to twist into more interesting shapes and stuff, it also doesn't push at the cage bars so much which helps to keep them in the right shape. Side view. Blinks is still up in the corner head bopping his bell. And another angle.
