Oooh! She must be itchy with all those pin feathers! :ausb: Glad they've started to come through so quick though!

A mature hen will have a tan cere most of the time, even though she's 6 months old she could be a slow developer which would be why her cere's still not completely brown. Blinkie's cere didn't go blue until he was 6 or 7 months old.

    Definitely a girl.
  4. Yeah, a cinnamon albino would be a lacewing. I hadn't thought the yellow face thing.

Blinks does that too. Sometimes when he's climbing the rings slide away from perchs so then he just sits in the top ring trying to figuire out how he can reach a perch.

WOW!! So much stuff!! The bottom half looks a bit empty, you could just get some fruit tree branches to pop in the bottom.
  7. I was sure that female budgies of any colour can't carry sex linked genes like cinnamon...

If it's tan then i would say she's a girl. Has she had her first moult yet? A picture would be handy.

One of my budgies has a straight toe nail but it doesn't affect her at all. Is it just one nail or all of them?
  10. What a terrible experience for both you and your budgie! Please, like Lovey and Sailorwolf have already said, take your budgie to an avian vet TODAY as the vet will probably give you some medicine for pain relief and to stop infection. Your budgie will still be able to get around as usual without it's toe, i have a budgie that only has one full toe left and she gets around fantastically in my aviary with the other budgies. Please keep us updated with any news about your budgie!
  11. I just KNEW he was using the phone!! I'll have to keep an eye on him.

Blinkie hangs upside down from his olympic rings, i think it's so cute!
  13. I'm not entirely sure but i don't think albino hens can be hiding anything...
  14. Oh wow! They're such beautiful birdies!
  15. Those toys have been destroyed for a very long time now, the budgies loved them! I don't think budgies are all that picky about what types of gum leaves they eat. In the wild i think they go from tree to tree in huge flocks shredding leaves and bark.
  16. I will! I'll add potato too as that's SURE to get him eating it, potato is his absolute favourite snack.

When Blinkie's sharing my shower i make sure he's sitting on his perch while i shampoo my hair.....of course, that's the one time where he's absolutely dying to see what i'm doing.

  19. Cool, i will do that tonight. How long do you think the smashed veggies will last in the freezer?
  20. They've probably mated while you've not been around. My budgies seem to mate at ridiculous hours in the morning when i'm asleep, it's unpleasant being woken up by busy budgies!
  21. I'd be freezing probably brocolli, cauliflower, carrots. Actually, could you smoosh up some different veggies and pop them in ice cube trays?? I wonder if Stinks would eat that....
  22. Just wondering, a lot of people talk about chopping up lots of fresh veggies and then freezing them for later use. Is there anything you need to do to the veggies first or do you just chuck them in the freezer? How long do they last once frozen? How do you defrost them again to feed to your budgie?

You should move Joey to a completely different room to reduce the risk of him becoming sick too. Chico does sound sick so the only thing i can recommend is to get him to an AVIAN vet asap and keep him in a warm spot in the house.

Hehe, that's so cute! My budgie Blinkie loves having showers with me each morning, he has a little perch to sit on out of the spray but he often plays on my shoulder anyway.

It sounds like he's been scratching at his eye and has probably got a little cut. This isn't that serious but you have to wonder why he was scratching enough to cause damage. One of my budgies once did this and when we took her to the vet we found that she had sinusitus which was easily treatable. You should probably go to an avian vet just to check for an underlying problem.
