He was my best show bird yet ( not that I've had that many) so I'm hoping the chicks will follow after him.
  6. Good luck Robyn, I hope she keeps looking after the baby

Thank you Robyn. I'm very happy with them They are all grey greens but 1 and 3 are cinnamon and a bit lighter and 1 has a violet factor (I think) and if I'm right 1 & 3 will be hens because the parents were both normal like number 2 which I think is male. Yes this is the nest that the dad died. This was dad

Update on the 3 chicks from nest 1 chick 1 Chick 2 chick 3 Nest 2 pics to come
  12. The birds just as you came through the doors were for sale. It was one of my jobs to sell them. Not all our shows are there, just our annual show. We have monthly shows and meetings at a primary school in Campbelltown on the first Friday of the month, except this month it is this Friday coming.
  13. There were some very nice birds there today. I thought I saw you, but I didn't get a chance to introduce myself (I was running around like a headless chook). I didn't take any birds to show but ended bringing 5 home
  14. You can contact the club ring registrar or the NSW ring registrar and find out. I would think it would be highly unlikely to be the wrong ring. Have a look on the Budgerigar NSW website for the phone numbers.
  15. WOW!!! They look fantastic! BIG pat on the back to you You can see how much they've grown and they have nice full crops and lots of pin feathers. I'm so glad everything is going so well, you really deserve a massive hug for what you have done with these chicks, I don't think you could have had a bigger learning experience.

Hi and welcome. Your birds are beautiful
  17. Your doing a great job. The formula should be warm, I think I use to make mine around 37 degrees and runny. Keep an eye on there weight and if they are gaining you're doing it right. The box is fine, they will feel safe and warm in there and when they get older I would put the box in the bottom of the cage in case they get a bit brave and go exploring and end up outside the box. There is a topic called Budgie Talk? I can't wait to see more photos as they grow
  18. Sooo happy to hear everything is working out. Well done

The eldest chick and the first egg for round 2 was laid today (is anyone else having trouble with there posts? I can't use the enter button)
  20. I had to breed mine like that I have because I can't put them anywhere else. The other birds do go on the out side sometimes but the pairs just ignore them and I've never seen mine pace only when I've had a cage outside the aviary. Maybe I was just lucky
  21. Wow, she is really bad Follow what Kaz says and take them all out. Maybe your boyfriends dad will be able to help while he's there. I would take the box out too so she doesn't lay again because she had already plucked the eldest chick that the lady kept.
  22. here is the link that is on here with the dettol http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/faqs/index.php?action=artikel&cat=8&id=58&artlang=en and the other one I read a couple of days ago on a FB budgie page and they side it worked. Neither of them would harm the chicks.
  23. The problem is she is a plucker and we need to find a way to stop her. Does the father go into the box at all? I have read a couple of ways to try and stop them doing it. The first is putting a mix of water and vinegar on them or the the one I read on here a mix of oil and dettol. If not you may have to hand rear them or if you can't find some one who can. You will have to make sure you can keep it warm especially because it has no down.If you can't keep it warm I would leave it in with the others till the morning (not ideal but it has to stay warm) and see if you could talk to the lady you got your hand reared baby from and she might be able to help you. I can't believe the lady you got them off only kept one chick considering the others have been plucked too.
  24. Well if that's the case, yes you can, that's how I have mine and I have chicks in both of the boxes. Plus your aviary is bigger than mine
  25. The only problem is if there are any males that can get to the hen she may mate with the so you wont know who the father is and if there any hens they will fight. I did it in my aviary with one of my pet types and had my show pairs in my double cabnet but I only had one hen with a couple of extra males (her eggs were all clear but she was a great foster parent). I want to get another cabinet for my aviary so I will have 4 cages and boxes. How big is the back wall because my doublr cabiet is 60cm long x 30cm wide x 110cm high.
