My New Breeding Journal
It was her first clutch and she only had 2 chicks but she just attacked the one which was the most demanding so I really think she did it because she wanted to lay again. I'll have to keep an eye on her with the second clutch and probably take her out when the chicks are old enough to be looked after by the father so she doesn't do it again.

I do have some good news on the plucked chick, a lot of the feathers were broken off rather than pulled out so hopefully the permanent damage will be minimal if any

It was mum, she had a bit of blood on her face. I think she wants to lay again. This is what the chick looks like now I'm going to let pair 3 try again. They were given to me and told to try them but he is a older bird and this was her first round, so fingers crossed. I split up pair 2 after the trouble with the eggs because she's done it before and I don't want to go through it again.

My New Breeding Journal
What a disaster I'm having with this round. One of the eggs in the incubator hatched but died at three days after looking great, the same hens last egg which I fostered out because of the gap between the chicks would have been to big hatched and is now not being fed by the foster hen and I have been feeding for the last 24hrs and to top it off pair 3 laid all clear eggs. I feel like I want to cry On a better note here are the 2 older chicks

They look great Paulie They are a much healthier colour. Handling the chick wouldn't have killed it, just if you are going to pick them up I always make sure my hands are clean. I put bedding in the box when all the eggs have hatched. I'd wait until the eggs in box 2 start to hatch and foster a chick if you need to.

I have put band-aids on and the egg that was the most damaged that I don't hold much hope I have put in the incubator. All I can do now is keep my fingers crossed. It's the same hen, I don't know why or how she does it

Budgie Squeaking When Scared Or Bending Down
I have a bird that does that too. As soon as he gets stressed he sounds like he's going to have an asthma attack and fall off the perch but he's been checked and they told me he is fine it's just him. He does go back to normal when he calms down. Good breeders wouldn't sell sick birds but the problem with budgies is that stress can very easily bring on an illness, that's why they should be quarantined for at least 30 days after you buy them no matter where you get them from.

Hi and welcome to the forum. Yes you can breed them but I think you need to do a few pairings first. I think it starts with crossing a Dutch pied with a recessive pied then crossing the Dutch pied chicks (because they will be split) back to a recessive pied. I am new to all this genetic stuff so a more experienced person may correct me if I'm wrong.
