Hi and welcome to the forum. You have a beautiful little bird there. She is both my favourite types in one, yellow face and violet.
  4. Hi and welcome to the forum. It's nice to see another person from Campbelltown. I had a look at your pictures and I'm going to say it's a boy (but I'm no expert) and it is very normal for a budgie to rip and mess everything up.

Welcome to the forum. All I can suggest is to read as much as you can. Good luck with everything
  6. Hi and welcome to the forum
  7. On the budgerigar council of Victoria it says birds vomiting, throwing up seeds. The only thing for me is that there are a lot of reasons they can vomit, which can be fatal so I would be keeping a close eye on her. I will admit after loosing 2 birds to canker which also makes them vomit I do get a bit paranoid about it.
  8. Condy's crystal can be used for sour crop, but you have to be very careful with the dosage because it is a poison.

Hi and welcome to the forum. Budgies don't need the nest boxes for shelter it just encourages breeding, so once you have finished with the breeding I would suggest you take the box out. Budgies breed all year round. The cage they are in sounds fine just leave them in it, but I would just make sure it is out of any drafts and I would cover it at night just to keep them a bit warmer. Good luck, I hope everything works out.
  14. Hi and welcome to the forum. If you look up the Budgerigar Society of New South Wales website you will be able to find your nearest club. In the mean time if you have any questions just ask

Well I got rid of my 3 babies this week and had 2 hatch. It makes it so much fun
  18. It sound very positive. Good luck, I hope you get what you want.
  19. Elle, are these new pictures or older ones because neither of these birds look like they are in breeding condition. If they are old try and get some new ones to see if both their ceres have changed.

L_J, I haven't bred many babies. The first time I only one pair that had 2 chicks and I gave them to my mum so I still see the sometimes, then I had 4 chicks which I still have, they included my first show chicks and this time I have 7 and I have to get rid of some. I will also be getting rid of some of my older ones too.
  21. Paul, unfortunately that is one of the down sides of colony breeding, quite often the hens will want one box and it can cause aggression leading to fights causing injury and if you're really unlucky death. Make sure if you are going to colony breed make sure you have twice as many nest boxes to pairs.
  22. Elle, it doesn't look like scaly face, it looks like her cere is peeling because she is coming out of condition.

Hi and welcome to the forum. It is a great place to find information and if you can't find what you're looking for just ask
  24. That's a shame, she started off with the first 3 chicks okay. I hope the rest hatch under the other hen. Hopefully when the 3 chicks are old enough dad might help. Just a thought do you think he is feeding her enough?

I feel so guilty Robyn, I've never sold any of my babies before I'm keeping my grey green babies (they're showing good potential) and the lace wing (she's tooo cute). The grey sitting on the feed container is a full show bird and the other two are half. Good luck choosing your keepers because you have so many beautiful babies
