help with chick again please
hi dawn this sounds like he has air in the crop its not uncommon it happens when the hen feeds the chick air instead of food there are a couple of reasons a maiden hen or a hen who isnt feeding enough 1. take the chick and gently massage the air towards the beak and expell as much as possible you might have to do this a few times if this is doesnt work gently **** the birds crop with a needle and release the air that way but make sure the needle is steralized the hole will heal itself

bird flu
this has been on the news a lot latley in the uk its now in russia and the experts say will without doubt end up in europe the dutch are allready telling farmers to keep there birds indoors even free range now just a little reminder to people in the uk that a lot of pet budgies come from belgium and holland and although it is not there yet please be carefull if you purchase a bird from a pet shop although we will not be able to stop it due to wild birds bringing it in also another thought people will need to be prepared with outside flights im not trying to be an alarmist here but as the main treatment appears to be to kill the birds in an effected area i dont know what it might mean to people with outside flights

mother,father,eggs
there is a small chance they wont be rejected but i do mean small,if they had been in the small breeding cage to start with you might have stood a better chance

I have a bit off a problem
sure sighns of egg binding a hen that is in the nest box or on the floor of the cage in great distress, shortness of breath swollen vent and dilated pupils and unfortunatly death normally occurs in 24 hours if assistants not given it all depends on how long she hasnt sat on them and if they have gotten chilled if she is not sitting on them there is very little you can do to make her

babies just out and already laying eggs
you have a couple of choices 1.let her lay then take the eggs away 2. remove the hen when the chicks are about three weeks old the cock bird should feed them 3. as number two but remove the cock bird
-
Babies just born in the ceiling - help
leave them put food up there when they are approx 3 to 4 weeks put soaked millet up there so the chicks can start to feed then as soon as they start on that bring them all down
