Hi sounds like you'll ve busy!!! Could you take some pics of your df spangles? I really like that variety as well as dominant piers...

Thanks! If I ever kept any of the chicks, (which I will), then I was going to call them Sugar and Spice. But since I went to the mornington peninsula bird show and saw this pair months ago, I immediately thought of those names! I don't expect much from these two, as she isn't in breeding condition just yet. But they have mated once before at their original breeders. Colour wise Im not that fussed as I'll get some normal blues. Hopefully some more Dom pieds from fern and poppy who I just found out might be a double factor pied! I also think she is clearflight as well, will have to have a closet look! Cinnamons are good too if I get any from fern! Don't really know what I'll get from bing and sunny, just a guessing game! If you want to look at any photos of my budgies go to the 1st page of this journal at the top of this page. Just finished looking at some clearflight pies and now I'm totally confused!!! Poppy has all the trademarks of a Dom pied but her flight feathers are clear or white in her case... The website I'm looking at says the clearflights ALSO have a " bald/clear patch " on their head just like Dom piers! Help would be appreciated
  3. Do you know how he " busted his balls "? With your Australian golden face, I know budgies are Aussie but what makes it an Aussie golden face? Also uf that is the case, then my inside hen us one. Her body feathers look just like that... What's the dif between a golden face and yf? I have a bird that looks exactly like your df sky violet dom pied Opaline cinnamon hen. I thought mine she was single factor? But if she looks like yours, then she is a df.

Had some time tonight to post some more pics. Some are of Sugar and Spice, my normal light blues and some are of all of them. Fern pigging out next to his girl, Poppy Spice, right, talking to Poppy (who isnt caring) Bing eating millet Peek A Boo! SUNNY HASN'T BEEN HURT, IT IS HER AFTER BEETROOT. It look purple on all the other, except for sunny and fern, whose masks are yellow, thus the red stains. These are my two new budgies I got only a few months ago. Sugar, hen and Spice, cock. Sugar isn't in breeding condition yet, but I'm hoping that seeing the others pairs will make her go into it. They are a lot smaller than the others, they're pet type. This is possibly my fav picture of all of my budgies. Bing just sat there eating his millet and let me take close- up macro photos of him/ Can you see the faint beetroot stains? These are some pics. Hope you enjoy! Also, no one has really actually told me what I would get from these pairs. Just to remind everyone: Cobalt violet factor cock X light green opaline hen - Grey green cinnamon cock X dom pied opaline cinnamon sky blue hen - light blue cock X light blue hen Any help would be appreciated as I can never figure out those genetics calculator things!!!

You mean this one? Yep thats a little ear hole The challenge is about $150 from some online shops (not including shipping) My local club has their own library and I borrowed the book for the month for $1 It includes everything from diet to breeding to getting ready for a show and judging a show. It has helped me quite a bit already when I'm looking for good traits in my birds (lots of illustrations) Yeah, so cute Lol Isn't it $150 for a SIGNED book. I've seen it cheaper, Daz apparently got it from eBay for I think just under $50

Thanks dillster! By the way my fat mix that I use to fatten them up before breeding is a mix of poppy seed, linseed, sorghum seed and French millet. So far my inside two like it but the outsiders not so much!!! They prefer the French millet by itself as it's hulled and easier to eat

That pics up top , can I see an ear hole?
  11. Taylor replied to Taylor's post in a topic in Breeding Journals
No I haven't even put in the boxes. They need to be fattened up a bit but the "fat mix" as I call it, isn't being eaten! Only two if three pairs are fully bonded, poppy and fern (the white pied and grey green cinnamon) aren't there yet. Hopefully towards the end of this month I'll but in the boxes. I have also been busy drawing anime manga art! This is a hen I own, it looks very similar to yours Green budgies actually have blue pigment in their feathers that mixes with their yellow base to make green. A blue budgie has no yellow, which means its just blue. The aqua colour is the blue mixing with a pale yellow suffusion caused by the YF gene. At least that's my understanding of it anyway But like I said it could just be the lighting of your photo Very cute budgie, has it been bred?

In my photo of poppy (the white pied) you can see the back of sunny, that is the same green colour on her chest. So I don't think she is yf...

What's the baby applesauce for? Also, what are oat groats and pipettes?
  14. Lovely pairs I wish you the best of luck! In pair 1, how is the hen a fallow? Or does the / mean split for?
  15. Taylor replied to Taylor's post in a topic in Breeding Journals
Really I though yf only came in blue? I will try and get a new picture up soon That greeny yellow colour on her body is the same now, only she doesn't look so diluted in colour

I tried grated beetroot and carrot, and I found more of it on the floor than actually getting eaten. I don't know what vitamins are in beetroot, but I was told by my breeder, Lloyd richardson that it was good for them. Also don't freak out when you see pink/red on their faces and bright pink poop! I will post more pics tonight...

    Detailed list
  18. Gorgeous birds! Wouldn't mind a pair of those! Do you mind saying round about what price you paid? As I know some breeders don't like clients repeating their prices.

Sounds very cute I only catch my inside budgie napping
  20. Taylor replied to Barry's post in a topic in New to BBC
It would take extreme conditions for a hen to lay fertile eggs outside a nest box. I have a friend who sorta had the same situation as you, and her budgie still talks and chortles.

Your blue ring cock looks really small to me. Then again it might just be the way he is sitting
