Perch Debate
I have one rope perch in my inside budgies cage and my dads cockatiel and princess parrot cage have some too. We clean them by soaking them in anti bacteria/disinfectant then rinsing them under water. Every couple if months we buy new ones as they do fray. A toy I have in my outside aviary is rope that has tassels and ive never seen them get caught or tangled. But yes, we get natural branches from Churchill park and use them. Budgies love eating them too!

Cubby House Aviary
Sounds like a good idea. It is quite small. Are you gonna put your birds in there when breeding? I am converting my one into a bird room too. Good luck! Keep posting more updates.

Feet Probs
He sits fine, all normal. His toes are placed on the perch exactly like the others and the others don't have the problem.

Supplements
It's dark outside so I will post tomorrow. I'm sick so I'm staying home. I'll write down what vitamins are in it as well. Where do you live?

Aviary In Progress.....
Hey kochy how do you attach your breeding boxes to the cabinets? Are they detachable? Also, what dimension are you breeding boxed/nests and cabinets???
-
Supplements
I give mine an all round supplement. I increase the amount of times I give it to them in a week from twice to every second day. I was told by my avian vet to do so as the hen and cock both lose vitamins during breeding. If you want the name just repy to this post. NOTE THAT YOU MAY NOT BE ABLE TO BUY IT WHERE YOU LIVE. I live in Melbourne and my avian vet that supplies it us about 5 minutes from where I live...

Feet Probs
I see, should the budgie itself be smaller due to lack of bone growth, as Fern is actually the biggest of them all. Can this be past down to his chicks. I do give them a vitamin supplement in their water every second day too.

Where Can I Find These
Where do you live? I would try eBay. I got mine from birds shows. They are $2 for the public to enter the warehouse and look around. I live in Melbourne and I know a lot of people here are from WA

Feet Probs
Well his feet are thinner than his friends and lean/slant to one side.

Good pairs kochy23! Any chance of some pics?

Feet Probs
That's a good thing if it has healed. The feet slanting I have on one of my boys as well and he gets around normally. If he can't climb up the cage then just make sure you have lots of branches/perches to climb around. If you are worried then go to avian vet and get him checked out, but from what you've said it sounds okay. I wouldn't get a large parrot/patio cage especially if you've only got one budgie. It would feel too big and scary... Any chance of some pics?

How Did I Get Cobalt And Not Sky Blue?
That makes a lot more sense to this question. Your albino could be anything underneath, meaning, like fordmob said, it could be violet and that made the chicks cobalt. Will have to remember that theory!

Taylor's Breeding Journal
It's 8.3 degrees outside and my budgies are swimming around in their water bowl! I filled another bowl with luke warm water and Sunny and Fern are loving it! They obviously cannot tell how cold it is outside... Would the Dom pieds be blue or green?

How Did I Get Cobalt And Not Sky Blue?
I am not nearly as experienced as some others on here, but the rec pied would be because one of them was split. A bit weird I have to say, but some pics of them if you can would be good...

Blueberry!
Very cute! I would say yellow face type 1 too.. But because the photos of him have a blue background, it's hard to see what colour blue. But I would say either light blue or cobalt. His name suits him well!

Max Number Of Budgies In Aviary
You COULD put that amount in, but it depends whether you have the time, money and organization to look after that many birds...

Max Number Of Budgies In Aviary
I woul say just under 20. It might just be the angle, but it looks like you only have a few perches??? Also are you going to be colony (in the aviary) or cabinet/line breeding (in separate boxes outside the aviary)? I would suggest cabinet breeding as there are less problems like horrible fights, territory wars and even deaths.

Pink Budgie Nest 2011
This is my first year breeding budgies and I have prepared myself for things like that. Breeding budgies isn't going to always be fun and games and a lot is going through rough patches like chick deaths, escaping birds and illnesses. I am thankful for forums like these and their people!

W.a. Brasea Show 7Th Aug 2011
Congrats RIPbudgies! Photos of your winning budgie would be awesome! Have you ever heard of the trick where you dilute small amount of wine/port with water then spray it on them? Apparently the budgies love the sweet taste and preen themselves, making them look prettier. Unusual, I know bit just wondering if anybody does that. Think I found out about it on this forum, not too sure though.
