  1. Extremely cute! Thanks for replying. I'll have to go get some bedding wood shavings now... Extremely large feet! Probably won't look as huge when older, but so cute now when a chick!
  2. I'm planning on putting them in around the end of august. Can't be this weekend because I'm doing a 40 hour famine sleepover. Gonna do the week after. The three pairs are already bonded and Sunny, the youngest one is real inquisitive. I use this bamboo rod to pull and push toys around as it's easier to do than to get in the aviary and scare them. Anyway, Sunny thinks it's great to sit on and hang upside down on the rod.

    Meant to write calcivet,!
  4. Our lockers suck cause they're wood! Anyway, back onto budgies. LOL
  5. Just thought that I'd let everyone know about an auction coming up in October. It's on Sunday the 9th of October 2011 It is in Weribee, Victoria and I cannot believe it, but birds from Henry George are going to be there! It should be a great day. There is a long list of breeders attending, Pam caulfield, Henry George and my breeder I got my budgies from, Lloyd Richardson just to name a few... Here is a link http://www.bcv.asn.au/WSAuctFlyerMap11.pdf Hope it works. See ya all there
  6. I don't like the cold either. After going on a cruise (my 2nd) in July around the south pacific and Vanuatu, you get used to waking up to 26 degree days! Real shock though when I got back to 2-5 degree Melbourne. Hope you get some more eggs kochy!
  7. Yeah, my mum likes being organized as well, that's where I get it from. If only my locker was organized...

Lol! Yeah you don't wanna overdose them on vitamins. I would just use the seed booster I suggested and breeding aid, not calcivet. The seed booster just adds extra vitamins that you wouldn't get in seed and breeding aid has vitamins essential for breeding budgies. Hope that I have helped you out Nim!
  9. Yeah I forgot to write that down in my post! I just typed in budgie breeding spreadsheet and it came up with it. It's amazing what you can find on the internet
  10. Busy writing up my budgie journals in my notebook. Page is arranged to include the following things: Pair No. Details of the cock Details of the hen No. of rounds Date of 1st egg Date of incubation No. of eggs No. of fertile eggs/ clear eggs Date of 1st hatched Then I created a table that has Hatched: Sex: Notes: I was meant to create it weeks ago but couldn't find the time, now im home sick I finally did it. Should be back tomorrow Gonna have to do the equations maths test I didn't do today, tomorrow!!! All well, I didn't want to get sick for a week, Ive already taken 3 weeks off for colds, throat infections and the flu. Im also having a sleepover for the 40 hour famine on the weekend so Ive gotta be healthy.
  11. I know this is an old topic but I have a dom pied opaline cinnamon sky blue hen. Does that make her a combination pied?
  12. Typo, sorry guys I meant treated pine. Stupid iPod touch auto dictionary!
  13. LOL, I love pieds both kinds. I have to say there is nothing cuter in my opinion than a dom/rec pied, there's just something about them! I also own one, well actually a Dom pied cinnamon opaline sky blue hen but you get my point. Hope to get at least 50% Dom pieds from her and my grey green cinnamon cock. Finnie figured that out on my journal post. Any way good luck for breeding.
  14. Can't wait to see some pics. Also why do you use wet grass, in your post I don't really understand the concept. Never heard of the concept either. Shame about you Dom pieds, they are my all time fave next to lacewings! I'm hopefully gonna get some this year so fingers crossed. Good luck GB

okay here are the details: Name is nutrivet seed booster. Made by dr Colin walkers bird health pty ltd The bottle has a green label with a white and red nutrivet sign The vitamins include: Vitamins A, D3, E, K, B12 Thiamine Riboflavin Panothenic Acid Iodine Lysine HCI Selenium Pyrodoxine Tryptophan Folic Acid Nicotinamide Methionine Choline Chloride Zinc Maganese Copper Cobalt. Yeah some of those probably will go straight over your head, they do to me. You mix 3mls of it to 1 liter of water. That's the equivalent of 7 drops to 100mls of water. (not 7, 3ml drops, just 7 drops from one of the needle things without the needle) Sorry, can't think of what they're called right now, must be all the Panadol and Mersyndol I'm doped up on! Hope I can help!!!
  16. Soooooooooooooo adorable! I just want to smuggle them home. Wait, wouldn't that make me a budgie smuggler? I'll go ask Mr Tony Abott! Anyway... So cute, and I hope you get some spangles as they are one of my favs. I love them when they're at the awkward stage of feather development! Can't wait till I get some eggs! Also I'm guessing from the pics that you use wood shavings in the nesting boxes. Would you recommend them and what type to get as I know tread wood/pine shavings can be harmful.

Welcome back! I'm guessing you thought Boris was a male, hence the name Boris? Cute and unusual for a girl I must say.
  18. Wow! Ive never seen snow apart from when my family and I go tobogganing! Good thing you took the budgies inside and away from the snow! Then you would have had budgie popsicles!
  19. Pull your head in Taylor Noone is having a go at you. It would be neglectful of us here if it wasnt pointed out that these fringes have issues. AND when I said about trimming it shorter its to prevent things we have experienced. If you carefully read GB's comment you will realise she also didnt believe it would be an issue until it actually was. So you can believe what you want but I am sure if yours was hung too you wouldnt rush on here and say we were right about it. Sorry. Didnt mean to hurt anyone if I did! Feeling sick today and when im sick I always get moody! Sorry. Sorry to GB too
  20. Very cute! Nothing cuter than a chick with big feet. (by chick I mean baby budgie)
  21. Sad about pair 4:( But pair 6 sounds hopefull. Take some pics when older
  22. Calm down... I am allowed to believe what ever I want! From my perspective it sound like your all having a go at me. I'm not gonna cut the tassels cause I want my budgies to have fun... Sorry if you all think I'm a bad budgie owner. And also, my fringes/tassels are 3 cm MAX.
  23. I am a big believer in getting pets from shelters, rather than pet shops as shelter animals have had a tougher start to life. I got one of my rabbits, Oreo (RIP) from a shelter and the rest of his life was fantastic. Budgies should be bought from breeders. Pet shops are greedy and careless. Ive seen too many sick birds and the prices they try to scam us with are ridiculous eg, $35 for a pied budgie that's on deaths door?

Thanks. Yeah the supplement is made by my avian vet Colin Walker, so I dont know whether it is in other states yet, but I'll definitely update tomorrow with the name and list of vitamins.
