  1. Here is Kramer, he is a single factor violet. Unfortunately we did not get to see his parents. Only told that the father was a violet and the hen was white. This picture is from awhile ago.
  2. okay, egg number three tonight. I think she might be setting now, as she is spending less and less time out of the box, although she did the same thing when the first egg was laid.
  3. LOL, I am beginning to think we are spangle magnets.
  4. We were wondering what the youngest one will throw. I agree with the youngest being normal. Question is what colour. They are getting used to being held, as soon as the box lid is open, they all look up to see who is there lol.
  5. we just looked her over and we discussed it. It does appears to be mid range as far as dark. I have gotten her used to sitting on my finger, first time a hen has done that, they usually just try to bite me,lol. Given she is so young, I might just be able to get her used to me, for the time being anyways lol. I figured YF and possibly spangle.
  6. okay, she has green and blue on her body. The wings are yellow with grey throughout the wings. the patches are purple. several black spots on throat. We were wondering what hidden suprises she contains lol.
  7. Meet Anya She is in a small cage, This is the cage we use for when we first bring them home, we treat for lice, worm, the usual nine yards. Then it is off to the quarantine area.
  8. The last budgie hatched The Second hatched The Oldest Chick We also are not sure, so far the wings look either grey or cinnamon. We know these are not the best pics to see. They would not sit still for anything. I do know the first two are definitely Spangle the youngest we are not sure on the spangle, doesn't look like it. We are very pleased with the results of our first time. We were nervous wrecks going in and came out more confident for lessons learned and all of your helpful advice that was given. Will update when they start getting more of their feathers. As of Today the ages are: 19,17,and 16 days old.
  9. lol, I call our chicks the stairstep chicks. If they line up, it's like a stair case
  10. I am getting a new Budgie for father's Day. Got the quarantine space all set up. rubs hands and thinks time to go window shopping. Hoping another one "falls into our laps" like Hedwig did. Also we might have another pair about to lay eggs. I am hoping they do as that will give us two pairs with eggs hatching around the same time, so we can foster chicks if need be.
  11. The Second egg was laid about a half hour ago. I was fixing spaghetti Bolognese and she was in her box. I went to call the family to dinner, noticed she was out. I checked the box and it was in the back corner. I reckon she'll nudge it to the middle as she did the first one.
  12. I agree with Finnie, they both look male, but front on pics (good luck) will help and use natural light with no flash.
  13. Going by the tail feathers, the first two are identical, the youngest does not have those two in the middle.
  14. Good Luck Amy, we have one pair just starting to lay eggs and the other pair having chicks almost ready to leave the box for the first time.
  15. lol, my head is still spinning on all the mutations and variations Hedwig is carrying. Guess we'll have to wait and see what Kramer is split for.
  16. I am taking all this in,lol. Everytime something new comes up in this thread, my wife adds it to the list, lol. I thought the hens would only be visual cinnamon if kramer was a split cinnamon. Ashame, we don't know the parentage of Hedwig. Just only know that Kramer's dad was violet and the mother white. Nothing regarding mutations and factors they were. We're just thankful that the chicks are doing well and are healthy. Judging by the baby chick milestone, the oldest should show their colours on Thursday, that will be the 20 day mark for the oldest.
  17. I was wondering with Hedwig, could she also be cinnamon grey, I know that is for another area, she has light grey around her head and cinnamon on the wings
  18. We were looking for a mate for Kramer, as we were told by a "self proclaimed expert" of a neighbour that Jessie was a male. Turned out he was wrong, as Jessie's cere turned brown and she is now sitting on one egg at the moment, lol. We spotted Hedwig in the pet shop, We were going to originally get her later that week, but the pet shop would not hold her for us. So we managed to scrape up 30 bucks for her. We quarantined her and introduced her to Kramer. She is my wife's favourite of the Budgies. I have a hard time picking a favourite. We try to look for unique coloured ones. I am very grateful that Hedwig was available that day. Still on the look out for a opaline violet, lol.
  19. Here is Hedwig. It took us about a million shots, most blurry. She would not sit still for a frontal shot. Everytime the camera would come up she would turn her back on it. Everytime. This was the best picture we could garner. Sheesh, the chicks were alot easier to get pics, rofl.
  20. Curious question, given one of the young obviously has a pied spot. Does that mean Kramer is split recessive pied??? We never got to see the parents  . We called up a bloke who had an ad in the paper, he said he had one that was purple, so that's how we got him. He only said the male was a violet and the hen was white. We gave him the name Kramer, from some of his antics ,reminded us of the Seinfeld Character lol. We will try for a better pics of Hedwig.
  21. Hey Dean, I checked Dad's head, when he would sit still lol. There is no spot on his head. There is no ring around Mother's eyes. The Dad has a ring around his. I just took the chicks out of the box and handled them. The oldest one has violet on the end of what tail it has lol. It's starting to bite more and squawked at me for holding it, which sent Mother into wigged out mode lol.
  22. I agree with Generic Blue, Male
  23. That is an old picture GB
  24. This is the hen This is the cock
  25. Here is a picture taken awhile ago, of both parents. The Hen is the white one. sorry it is not clearer, we will try to take a better one. Gives you kinda of an ideal though
