  1. The budgie is coming from a different place, altogether. the place is spotless and clean, the birds are in excellent condition. We have decided to not buy any from the place that is being reported. The wife wants to save as many as she could though, don't blame her. I feel sorry for them, hmmm with the budgies though we might just get a call from them, because we said we would take abandoned and unwanted budgies from the RSPCA
  2. We figured as much, will post a picture so we can get a better identification for it. He said our hen hedwig was a Spangled pied, he seemed to throw the pied word around rofl. We hope we have done the right thing by reporting a pet shop which shall remain nameless, the Birds were in sad condition, two peach faces were missing all feathers on the breast, they had two zebra finches in with canaries which were huge compared to them and were attacking the little finches. Some of the budgies were'nt great, with one budgie completely missing it's tail feathers.
  3. Hey everyone, We went Budgie window shopping today. We saw a male budgie, no doubts here that it's a male. We asked the bloke there, if he would hold it for us until next Thursday, he placed it in a cage that has no other budgies in it like it and said we can get it next Thursday. He said it was a Fluorescent Pied Budgie, I never heard of that type before, the bird is absolutely gorgeous. We now will have to shop around for a mate for him, lol. With a bird that gorgeous it will be a long hen selection process rofl. Will post pictures when we get them. We got our camera back, so expect better pics of our other three Budgies, speaking of them, I replaced the bell AGAIN, rofl. Tom
  4. No, by the time we realize it's off, it's been tossed to the floor. As soon as he realizes we have put it back on, he heads straight to the swing, to take it off. I have to wonder if he is attracted to the colour green, we have another toy, and he is always fooling with the green part of it.
  5. Kaz Thankyou so much, I'm still learning my way around the board, it's cool. I will go to our vet tomorrow and get some of the moulting suppliment for him, that was mentioned. I feel so sorry for him, some of his feathers are sitting oddly and it does look a little strange, when I stroked his breast area, some of his feathers stuck to me, I feel for him, he looks a wreck poor baby.
  6. We had kramer and Hedwig out of there cage and we noticed as Kramer flies he is losing alot of his feathers. We bought him at the end of Nov. 09 and he was just learning to fly when we got him, now he is losing feathers and is looking quite dishevled. Is he molting or not?
  7. Nerwen, The age of Darla is about 4-6 months old, just had another look at Darla's cere and it is now pink with white nostrils I have no idea what is going on with Darla, is it normal for a cere to change this often? Jesse, I think is alot older, not sure on exactly how old she is, we found her a few streets away cornered by a cat, I chased the moggie away, poor Jesse looked a wreck, we took her to our vet and he checked her out, she was exhusted and had mites. She is a grumpy little thing, but it is understandable, we put out a lost and found but still no replies to it. We are more than happy to keep Jesse, we have got her reasonably settled, but I think she isn't used to being held, she does give these funny looks when we give her little kisses, Jesse is getting so much TLC. We have already fallen in love with her, but we do have to let her out of her cage at different times because she tries to attack Hedwig and Darla. Our vet said she is either 8 months or older because of the colour of her iris. She is also the largest budgie I have ever seen, she is at least 1/2 - 1 inch taller then the other budgies.
  8. Kramer, our violet Budgie, has this thing about a certain plastic bell on the swing that he uses. It is the green one on the bottom. He has spent the better part of 3 days trying to figure out how to remove it. Well today, he was successful. I heard this noise, and turned and found out he had taken off the green bell. I proceeded to place it back on, he promptly took it back off again. The last time he did it, he took the long way around to the swing, watching to see where I was the whole time, he then proceeded to undo it in about ten seconds flat. As I am typing this, he is eyeing off the green bell again and keeps looking to see if I am watching. He fell off the swing quite a few times trying to undo it and finally has worked out his balancing act.
  9. Kaz, I just had a real close look at Darla, Darla's cere is mauve with white nostrils, with also a touch of blue down the middle of the cere. Jesse is blue and very white around the nostrils. Amy, It is killing me without our camera, we've been told it will be at least two more weeks before we get it back and when we do, it'll be snap shots of our babies like there is no tomorrow.
  10. Amy wish we could, the picture was taken via laptop, still waiting for our camera to be repaired. :sadsorry:
  11. It was time for Kramer and Hedwig's thourough cage clean day, so while they were in our small cage my daughter took the time to take pics of them both. Kramer is on the left and Hedwig on the right. Kramer was our first Bugie bought, Hedwig we stumbled across and instantly fell in love with her :sadsorry: . Hedwigs cheek spots are white, part of her body colour is a soft mauve, and her wings have grey speckles through them, not sure what variation she falls in, but she is so dainty looking.
  12. We aren't exactly sure on these two lovelies sex. Darla's cere is a light mauve and at tims starts going blue nostrils. This next one we have named Jesse, we found jesse and some of the poor things feathers look frayed, we are now treating jesse for mites. Jesse's cere a pale blue with white around the nostrils. Any help on possible sexing would great.
  13. we were told Kramer is a male by the breeder we got him from, but another breeder has said Kramer is a female, so we are not sure who to believe. Kramer's cere is a deeper purplish color than what it shows in the picture.

I'm not new to budgies, one of my uncles used to be a breeder in the late 70's, early 80's, I loved spending every holidays at my uncles place, he used to always let me help him. ncle Charlie had 50 breeding pairs and I learned so much from him, he only let them breed once a year and retired them at 4 yrs of age. I was feeling miserable with bad health ( I suffer from Meniere's) so my Husband Tom decided after hearing me talk about my uncles birds and went out and bought 2 budgies, my husband went to a breeder and got no 1 ( now named Kramer) I fell in love with him . 2nd one is Darla. This is Kramer, my daughter is holding him ( we think he is male the breeder said he was) although this picture doesn't show it, Kramer is a vivid violet and his cere is a deep mauve than what is shown. over the last couple months we have found that Kramer has a tail fetish and his personality fits in with that of the tv character Kramer from Seinfeld, hence his name. Darla Is gorgeous, can't see her cere because everytime we try to take her picture she turns her back on us, Darla we have found also has a fetish, her's is eye glasses. Darla out of the two is the biggest sook, loves getting kisses and is always sitting on one of our heads or shoulders. We have two other pics to come of two others we have since gotten, a blue budgie named Jesse, he loves trying to dismantle his swing. And our other little gem is Hedwig, She is beautiful, she seems to be more of a bossy boot, but she loves flying around the house. Hedwig, we haven't worked out weather she is a lacewing or clearwing, so as soon as we get her picture, we'll put it up for someone to give their opinion of what she could be. Since typing my post here, Kramer and Hedwig have just hit it off with each other, they are ontop of Kramers cage, and she has begged him to feed her and he also started grooming her too, this is a first, he always kept trying to mount her but she never wanted a thing to do with him, now they are grooming each other, this is so awesome :fear . Lucky we do have breeding boxes just in case, for us it is a case of if they mate they mate, if not, we have wonderful companions.
