I made a sling for my cockatiel and he used to sleep in it until we moved him outside. I put a hot water bottle in it too. Yeah, my mum think nesting boxes are for sleeping in. Lately, though, I think she knows a bit more about budgies.

At the pet shop here we pay $22.50. But.....if you give them to the pet store they give you $5.00. I know that may sound fairly reasonable but I'm talking about ANY budgie, including sick and injured ones.

You could put gum branches in there. After a few days my budgies were eating them. Then put something like carrot tops in the gum leaves when he start eaing the gum leaves.

My dad would say 'let nature take its course'. Chrysocome, magpie are native and they are a protected species. Apparently they have more right than a pigeon. Anyway, CONGRATULATIONS on becoming a vet!
