Finnie's Breeding Journal
Oh bother. I didn't realize. We might be keeping one and if they were in my area I could get a mate for it. Mum loves violets and wants to keep them, but......dad isn't budging.

Welcome to the forum! If there is any white around the nostrils that indicates that the budgie is a she. Are you going to put them in together?

Oh. Great! Can you post a picture so I can compare? I think Marigold carries that gene.

Just A Question......
Just wondering what a cinnamon looks like in the nest. My eldest has only brown on the wings and no black. Thanks in advance.

Having been close and personal with them I think I know the colours. I've been trying to work out what Marigold and Skye are. Grrrrrrrrrr. Is Marigold a violet green? I've never seen her shade of green before. Maybe Marigolds split blue, as I originely thought and Skye is violet non-visual split opaline.

Just one week and a half ago they were like this. And now they look like this. See the violet tail. Does it show well?

What Would Be The Outcome Of...........
Was there any other birds in there with them? Which one is feeding the baby? Are they still sitting on the other eggs? I can't help you with the outcomes, sorry.

You can tell its opaline by the white down. It means the dad is split for opaline and the chick is female Thank you Kaz! By the way.... I got some more pics. Here are the little chicks. Notice the violet tail? It might not show very well. And here is a picture so you might get an idea of my set up. I can watch from the kitchen and the computer without upseting them.

one on the right is opaline How would I get an opaline? I'm still trying to work it out. How can you tell, anyway? Could my birds be split for opaline? Could the one on the left be opaline too?

Ratzy's Breeding Journal
Today more feathers have grown and the eldests tail feathers are deep violet. The second one has some green and the last one has yellow coming through. The third I suspect is violet or blue. I just read that they cannot be split for violet? Then is Skye an actual violet?

Here is the next photo. I took it while the eldest was out. To me the eldests tail feathers look more violet than blue so maybe I got a violet. Skye is split violet after all.
