  1. Good luck! How far are your nest boxes apart? I know colony breeding is not the best choice but it is your decision. Keeping my fingers crossed no problems!

Not run for it, Houman. The trick is to be very still and quiet. Round here the snakes can chase you.
  3. Look everywhere! I really hope he comes back. Put up flyers and adds in the newspaper. Tell your neighbors in case they happen to catch him. I really hate to get your hopes down but I had 2 that went to a friends place for 2 weeks and they left the door open when I warned them that one could unlatch the doors! I never saw them again. Sorry. My cockatiel got out too. I think someone found him because he hung around then was gone.
  4. Probably male then.
  5. It seems to have changed since I last looked. Maybe the whiteness around the nostrils doesn't show in the picture. Hold on, I'm uploading some more photos now. EDIT: Here is the photos. Meet Chubba Chubs.

You should try living in Queensland robyn. I don't but my cousins do.
  7. Thank you Kaz. Here is Dude, my brother's early birthday present. He/She is the youngest. I thought Dude was a boy but now I'm not so sure.
  8. More pics. I know I've been pretty lazy with them but here they are. I'll post a few then when somebody posts back I'll do more. Meet Lexi. Peek-a boo! I think I'm selling most of them but my brother gets to have one. I'll upload some more then.

Oh, I love snakes! I had 7 around my neck at once! They are gorgeous.
  10. Ha ha... that was the top half of the cage. 6 birds fit in really well.
  11. Name: Nat Pets: 1 pet sheep, Thimble, Chubba Cheeks, Skye, Marigold, Lexi and Dude the budgies, Ree-ject, Reaction, Rebound, Rebel, Oddball, Little Dude and TTC the chickens, quite funny actually... there is the 4 brown chooks and then the others. Oh.... and my Brother. Fav Colour: Blue Astro Sign: Aries Age: 12 Weakness: My stupid ankle. Strengths: Bird fanatic, know most things about birds. Never ask me any question about them.... you probably won't understand. Except budgies. Fav animal: changes from day to day.... today it is ruby-throated hummingbird. Fave tv: Depends on mood. Live: Vic How long have you been a member: Since sometime last year... still feel like a beginner though. Love my birds and my sheep Amy. We stole her from next door as she was an orphan as the guy wasn't looking after his sheep, there were dead and dying sheep left, right and center. We hand raised her on a bottle and we've had her for nearly 7 years. She butts you over into fences and walls.
  12. Yeah.... I was sent an article on types of pigments in feathers. Some I understood.... mostly I didn't. I agree... pet shop birds are the way to go.
  13. My outdoors cage has a 97cm length across 54cm width across and is 117cm in height.... not including the roof bit. I can easily split it in half... which is what I did for my chicks when they were fledging so it wasn't such a long drop which could be used for spliting up birds and I have a spare cage or 2 for sickies and for quarrantine. So how many birds could I fit in? Just a question. Thanks in advance :budgiedance: .
  14. Liberty Franny Lilac Lilly Tyler Max Jigsaw Chester Cherry Flash Li'll Guy Dude Safron Hulk Gemmy Jewel Dawn Sonny Just to name a few.....
  15. Looking great! Are you hand raising her? Sorry... must have misread :budgiedance:
  16. Be helpful and post some pics for us. What the other guys said is pretty right on target.
  17. Apart from red and orange..... when I was eight I had a budgie with orange markings..... from the pet shop that sells pink cockatiels. It was sick and died shortly after. :hooray:

Over here the weather changes really fast.... It was sooo nice during school. Now it is school holidays and misrable :hooray: . Great news! Looking forward to more eggs and chicks!
  19. Yeah don't rub it in.... my birds are weird. My females don't bite at all whilst Skye, Dude and Buttons torture my fingers for the fun of it. I think they usually bite harder than males though. :hooray:
  20. All my females are quiet, don't bite AND don't get themselves into situations that they can't fix. On the other hand, the males bite, hard, are noisy and often have to be rescued. What happened to animals taking after their owners?
  21. It won't let me in. Interesting idea though.
  22. Can you post a picture of the clear mantle? Looking great there.
  23. If Dave thinks it is an opaline it is a she.
  24. It really depends on the budgie.... male are generally noisier than females.
  25. Thanks, for birthday wishes. How would it need a clean as you don't have hatchlings yet? Or maybe I missed something.
