It's hard to tell could it be feather quill mites?

Sex Opinions Please
I'd say Cock bird, do you have pics of his back? could help with full mutation of him.

Baby Budgie Feathers
Could be either, can you separate Mum from babies and leave Dad to finish the job? If you want 2nd round maybe put chicks on floor with Dad with a cover for them to hide under e.g ice cream container cut away on one side. See if feathers start to grow back.Even add pics on here to see what others think.

New Breeding Season.
Well thought I'd finalise this round of chicks. Cage 4. Mum & Dad finally got their act together l.o.l. This is the result. Mum or Dad must be split blue? I'd say as no 1 chick is a real surprise, it's a tealy blue between wings, patches of sky and cream on chest. Out of green normal Dad green & Gold Mum!! This is result of fostered egg. got to be no 4's chick. Little chick could be foster Mum's, will know as it feathers. This is Dad. This is Mum

Budgie Ill Overnight
Handy to know of things that are readily available to use in an emergency. When a vet isn't accessible. Nadene I don't know about sour crop? Did the symptoms described sound like it could have been that? Do you know the dose of Condy's for it?

Boston Ferns ?
It is different but your fern could still be toxic. Until you can find it on a safe plant list I don't think I'd take the risk with letting him chew on it.

New Aviary
Wow, looks like one very nice aviary coming up. Hope you can get it done without any hitch's e.g. council regs. etc they seem to be different from council to council state to state. If your a brickie I suppose you know that already l.o.l. Good luck with it. Add pics as you go as clues for others doing an aviary.

Budgie Ill Overnight
Did your pet shop say what the Condy's crystal's are for or how they work? I haven't heard of it for budgies to date, my Dad used it for his pigeons but it would be handy to know just what it does help. P.S. nearly forgot to add glad she's recovering and hope she continues to improve.

Help Sick Fluffed Up Budgie
Did the vet, at least, give you any idea of what she had? Just in case your other birds could be at risk.

Boston Ferns ?
Hi,Phoebes this is a picture of bracken, it's normal growing wild under trees in bushland etc. in Australia, don't know about Canada.

Day One!
Brilliant job Bretto & family, it's hard fitting new to old but you have pulled it off well !! Just hope you have as much reward with your budgies when you get them.

Day One!
Looks really great Bretto, good luck with the "decorating". Tell your daughter to keep in mind buds will chew most "stuff" to pieces. Some swings made with wire and beads look great and birds love them. There is a plan for them somewhere, maybe under toys etc

New Aviary
Sounds like a great plan. Are you going into show birds or pet types? Does your 3x3 room include your flights or are they separate extending off room? Mine really love getting out in fully wired flight, love it in rain or sun.

Help Sick Fluffed Up Budgie
What medications do you have on hand that may help? It's so hard to advise without seeing bird but she may need antibiotics or maybe Ivomectin could help if it's respiratory, does she have and "squeak" e.g when she breathes ? If she's vomiting I'm not sure what could help hope others with more knowledge may answer. Keep her under lamp and only give seed and water until you can get more advice. Good luck with her.

Budgie Ill Overnight
Do you have any medications on hand? It could be infection of some sort or respiratory. Do you have any Ivomectin? If so give 1 drop on back of neck. Take any greens etc off her just give seed and water.

Mid Year Journal Of Mixie And Lady
Hi Budgie_Mad, just because you see the pair mating does not mean your first egg will arrive within 2 days of it, they will mate at any time and not produce eggs. If she is looking egg bummy it could still be days before she actually lays, THEN expect eggs every 2 days and they will hatch in the same time frame, if they are fertile. (18 days incubation hatch every 2 days) approximately. Good luck with them, great looking cage set up, should be a snap to keep clean.

Unsafe Foods
Spinach/silver beet is fine, mine love it, if leaves are wet and hung up in aviary, they use it for a bath, fun to watch. In f.a.q. there is a section of safe/ unsafe food,(just type safe foods in search) very handy to check before giving any new foods as sometimes the least likely thing can be harmful.

Paulies Budgies Breeding Journal
Hi Paulie, your cage looks great but I agree that perch's need to be spaced front to back to allow birds to fly/ jump from one to the other. We have a peg outside hole in nest box so male can chat while hen is on eggs etc also access to box. If Mary is in breeding condition (over 12 mths of age) she will throw out wood shavings etc from the box, it's a good way to check if things are heading in the right direction for eggs etc. I use wood shavings and when they toss it out you know they are getting ready to lay. I add more shavings after eggs are laid or chicks hatch, they usually leave it in box then. For someone to give you mutations of your birds can you add individual pics of each? e.g. does tweety have red eyes? could be lutino if so.

Leg Cancer/tumor
Sorry the little fellow didn't make it, he took the hard decision off you though. Just take heart that you did all you could for him. These things happen but they are very easy to get attached to. Good luck with his kids.

Babies And Eggs Unhatched
Hi Paul, if possible cage your pairs to save a lot of heartache, if not possible do as Nadene advised and add more box's, not too close together, hope this helps with problem. Maybe adding another Cock to even things up may help also.
