Help!!!!! Im New To Budgie Breeding And Dont Know
Hi Elle, Even though you have a blue and normal green? I'm assuming that's what your cock bird is. Their parents may have been e.g pied's or spangle or some other mutations, that don't appear on your birds. When you breed them you may get a few little surprises as to colouring/mutations etc. I'm not up on genetics myself to advise but that's half the fun!! not knowing what you may end up with.

Help!!!!! Im New To Budgie Breeding And Dont Know
Hi Elle, one post you say you know nothing, then say you know about things when people try to advise you? If you need to know specific things, then ask that question, as it's hard to give you general advice. If your hen was using nest box and then you changed it, of course she will be nervous about it. You can't change things mid- stream without upsetting things. Set up your cage add birds of breeding age and condition and go from there. Instead of trying to tame skye, why not wait for new chicks and tame those? If she's older and hasn't been tamed early she may not ever be tame enough to come out of cage. As to what colours you would get that depends on what your birds are split to etc . others may help with that.

Is My Cage Too High For Breeding Budgies?
Sounds okay, If your hen has already laid 2 eggs she must think it's fine also. If conditions aren't right they breed readily. Good luck with it.

Help!!!!! Im New To Budgie Breeding And Dont Know
What do you want to know, do you have a problem or just want to research before you have one? If the former, re- post with details. If the latter I'd say start with pinned topics on breeding budgies etc that will give you a bit of info. then it's a case of follow your nose. I have picked up everything I now know through this site. It's a case of read, read, and more reading. Then putting it into practice. Firstly would be cage set up,quarantine, diet, safe & unsafe foods. Things to look out for in case of illness. etc. etc. AND ask questions no matter how silly you think it is.

Wessiri's Budgies
Glad your hen settled down to her duties and didn't eat any more eggs. Great that she's turned out to be a good little Mum. Hope no 3 arrives safely.

My Budgies Now And Over The Years :)
Beautiful birds Vargur, maybe your spangle had visions of using her water dish as a nest. Did you have a nest box in cage as well? Can't help with mutation of Timon other than lt. green opaline? He's lovely though. Good luck with your breeding.

First Time Owners, Budgie With Splayed Leg
Hi Emily, thank you for getting back to bbc. I'm so sorry all your efforts were in vain , I'm sure you made his life a lot better than it would have been, if you hadn't taken him. So glad it hasn't put you off having more birds, looks like the bug has bitten. Good luck with your new friends when they arrive. Don't forget BBC for any advice.

Sexing Advice
Hi Owen, Can't help with bird sex BUT just wanted to alert people. I was able to access your car photo's by clicking on you link for birds pics. I'm not very computer literate but on photobucket. Unless you make a new file for your pictures you want to upload to BBC, or any other site, it seems whatever pictures are in the file you upload can be seen by clicking the foreward arrows that link your pics. Just in case there are private pics in that file I only upload pics to p/bucket by putting whatever pics I want shown into a new file first. Hope this makes sense to everyone as it could protect your privacy, if like me you don't realise it's not just the one picture but the whole file that's accessable. Nice car by the way. Hope this is okay to add this here. This is really confusing, after adding above post I tried the link again and only got the 2 birds pics?? Previously could see early holden, plus many pics of car parts etc that was obviously a restoration project???????? Can anyone explain this!

Male Budgie With Brownish Cere: Sick Or Actually Female?
Hi, the one I use is Aqueous Iodine. Apparently humans can take it as well for some medical conditions. Add 7 drops to a litre. I give it to my birds about every 2 weeks. The betadine you have would be a gargle, not swallowed.

Male Budgie With Brownish Cere: Sick Or Actually Female?
Hi, yes I had a Cock bird who's cere would change from blue to brown. On advice from a bbc member I gave him a soluble Iodine. 7 drops per litre of water, I gave it to all my birds. His cere changed back and forth a couple of times, he bred some beautiful chicks. Unfortunately he has passed away but I have a couple of his babies in the aviary so hopefully they will carry on his genes. Only thing is the one I get from the Chemist is about $20.00 a bottle which for a couple of birds is expensive. All the birds need some Iodine, for which you can get iodine bells at pet stores which may be enough for him. BUT he just may still turn out to be a she.

Suspended Aviary Or Upright
Personally I would opt for the latter option. This would give your birds more flying space. It would mean suspending it on legs eg but it would be of more benefit to your birds.

Strange Feather Phenomenon--- Feather Mites, Something Else, Or Nothin
Hi Birdlove, I remember your first post about this. I have been surfing the web to see if I could find any similar pics to yours, zero results. Could you try sending pics to an Avian vet or bird group to see if you can track it down? If there is definately no insect/bug visable on bird I'd say it's either genetic or some other disease that is causing it. Maybe even nutritional? I know this only adds to "I want to know what it is, not what it could be", problem but unless someone has had personal experience with the same thing it's very hard to solve. Please let us know if you do track it down as it's bound to pop up somewhere else. P.S If you bird is happy and healthy otherwise I don't think you can do much more. Reading back through you said he has had a couple of moults. Does the same group of feathers regrow the same way after each moult? If so it's looks more like an individual feathering quirk, if it doesn't alter.

Cage Front Building
Depends on the type you are talking about. Here we can buy a flat ready made front in different sizes. Some have a door for breeding cage to fit in / or not if you have box on sides. Or are you talking home made front with bird wire etc.?

Budgie Variety
Very pretty bird, are there yellow feathers on the wing and tail as well as head? It's a bit hard to tell. If so would this be some sort of pied? Is the body solid colour with no patches of colour..

New Member In Canberra
Welcome. I don't know how you would go this time of year in Canberra. Depends on your set up. It will take them time to settle n to thir new home. Are they all from the same breeder? You may be able to find out their background as to parents mutations etc from him/her. That may help when pairing them up so you don't breed siblings together e.g.
