  5. wow.. thanks for that article KAZ. Very long lol but I made it through the whole thing. The only reason I decided to add pellets to my bird's diet is because the vet told me they were supposed to be the main source of nutrition for my birds. Who wouldn't trust a vet? I didn't take the seeds away. My budgies didn't seem to like their pellets at all but after a while they started eating them.. So I guess I should take the pellets away from their diet completely? I'm so confused now! So what would be the best seed mix ever? and since I can't find anything good at the petstores or walmart.. then where can I get the ingredients to make my own seed mix? Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it
  6. I never know which seed and pellet brands to buy.. I want to get the best but there's so many choices and I don't know which is good and which is junk. Petshops and Walmart are my only choices since there's no budgie clubs or breeders around. So I've been trying different seed mixes but I've seen that they contain many fillers my budgies don't like and throw them out. The latest seed mix I have bought seems okay.. its the one with the less fillers I've seen and they eat most of it. Kaytee seems to be the best brand I can find here for seeds. ..and pellets are another story. I used to buy a bag that contained the seeds and the pellets altogether but it also contained alot of fillers and they ended up on the floor. There's only one choice for pellets here and its called Fruit Blend or something like that from ZuPreem. They are just the right size (my budgies like them small) but they are colored and they have a strong fruity smell. Another thing.. since they are colored they make my bird's droppings rainbow colored lol. So that's the best I can find here.. I just want to know if that's good enough? are they good brands? They still get their daily portion of fruits and veggies and other fresh foods plus some treats once a week, their cuttlebone, etc..
  7. Wow! Thank you for all the answers, that clears up all my confusions The picture of Sonny is not intensified that's really how my wall looks when the sun is shining lol and I never noticed Jasper's chest until you mentioned it! That makes him even more special now ..I'll try to enjoy that look as much as I can until it goes away when he moults..
  8. It doesn't look purpley at all and to me she looks more like a cobalt. But the fact that she looks so bright in the sun and that she is not as dark as Sonny confuses me. The three different colors being skyblue cobalt and mauve can go up or down a shade right? In that case she could be a darker skyblue or a lighter cobalt?
  9. Thank You I'm still a little confused about Sky though.. In the sunlight she looks like a skyblue (her feathers shine very pretty) but when the light is bad or there's not enough light she looks like this: her color still doesn't look as dark as Sonny's but not quite as light as Jasper's either. In the first picture posted the sun was shining right in front of Sky and that's why her feathers look so bright. In the second one the sun was behind her.
  10. Welcome to the forum! Looking forward to see some pics of your budgies
  11. Okay this is my new budgie Oliver Kiwi I want to make sure I got his description right: Grey-Green Opaline? Sonny: Cobalt Dominant Pied Is he a YF2 or a goldenface? Cielito: YF2 Recessive Pied Skyblue or Cobalt? Here is a picture of Jasper my Skyblue Normal for comparison: And last but not least....... Louie: Recessive Pied Light Green or Dark Green? and a picture of Fiona my Dark Green Normal for comparison as well. Thanks -Corina

  16. How Interesting.. and my mom has AloeVera growing in pots around the house.. I'm not sure if I want to try making the gel juice but if is okay to give them some leaves to nibble on then I'll try that.. We use AloeVera alot for bee stings and burns, it really works
  17. Okay  Yes the Vitamin Multi-Drops are to be used in the water but also on the seeds according to the instructions..
  18. I finally bought a bottle of Apple Cider Vinegar for my budgies and also some vitmain multi-drops. I would like to know how many ml of ACV per ounce of water should I put in there? Also.. I would like to know if the multi-drops I bought are any good.. it contains: -Vitamin A.................315,00 I.U. -Vitamin D3................67,500 I.U. -Thiamine..................31.5 mg -Riboflavin.................42.0 mg -Vitamin B6................33.0 mg -Niacin......................232.5 mg -d-Pantothenic Acid.....63.0 mg -Choline.....................63.0 mg ...per fluid ounce and it says to put one drop per fluid ounce of water and one drop per ounce of seed daily. and... last question: Can budgies eat sesame seeds? Thanks :laughter:
  19. Aww! I was away for a few days and I missed the quiz!! Not fair I would've loved to test my sexing skills!
  20. Okay so quarantine was finally over for Jasper and Sonny and I Introduced them to my other birds. Sky went crazy! she was really happy with the new boys since Snowflake got to keep Louie. So Sky was all over the cage flirting with Jasper and Fiona was all over Sonny (Sonny got freaked out!). Its been a couple of days and they are already settled in and the cage is looking way better now with more budgies in it!! Then I got a new bird.. Its a long story but there he is in the quarantine cage looking real good. He seems to be a very smart bird and he is adjusting way too fast lol Some pics: He is a Grey-Green Opaline.. right? There were many other grey birds.. even a dark grey one and a lutino but I just fell in love with this one lol. He was the biggest and the one with the most energy and not to mention very handsome so I just had to pick him.. like I said its a very long story.. I'm having a lot of trouble finding a good name for him and when he gets named I will share the very long story :laughter: Any Ideas on a good name that fits him? He is very sweet, smart, big, full of energy, careful and handsome!
  21. Very cute bird! I just got a bird that looks just like that! except mine is not cinnamon.. I'll post a thread about him soon

Your are welcome okay.. If chicken was a lutino then his eyes would've been red since he was born but if they are solid black then chances are that he is a dark eyed clear. But if his irises get lighter as he gets older then he is a double factor spangle.

Welcome to the forum! I'm not expert but here are my guesses: Effie looks like a Mauve Normal and Chicken could be either a dark eye clear or a double factor spangle since his eyes look black in the pictures.. if his eyes are actually red then he would be a lutino.
  24. Welcome, I'm looking forward to see some pictures
