  1. That's what I was thinking Phoebe As to the last one I believe you have a Grey-green bird. The cheek patches are a silver-blue and what I can see if the tail looks to be black.
  2. Nice birds I like the Lt green opaline cinnamonwing best
  3. How old is she? Is she a show or pet type budgie? Sometimes old age in budgie can cause problems just like in humans.
  4. If you see them trying to get back in around bed time pop them back and they would most likely stay there until morning.
  5. Yes that is correct. Female budgies are XY (also sometimes shown as XZ) and Males are XX
  6. It's time again for entries for Budgie of the Month. Every one has until the 5th if July to enter a picture. Three judges have been picked for this months judging, all other members/site promoters/G.Mods are welcome to enter. Pictures will not be made public until judging is final. Any post you make to this thread will not show up so please do not repost. Good luck to all that enter.
  7. Ahh well then I just must have a deep voiced hen

Great to hear that she is having a ball along with Coco.
  9. your right INO is a sex linked gene. Which hens can not be split for. Lucien has one ino gene and one Clearbody gene.
  10. Sorry Vegta I can't really see much in there from the light. Is that there for a reason? Heat or to help with the picture? Why not tell us what is in the cage at the moment.
  11. It is higher pitched than what I remember of the noise Tootie made.
  12. I think what you are describing is simply a begging sound. The bubs will make it too when they are at the age of coming out of the box. I don't know if the hen does it to show the babies or if that noise simply gets the best reaction from the male.
  13. it can't be that easy can it?? or else they would be classed as common. OR is it that many breeders do not want a dark grey in their stud.
  14. The millet it the best they seen to be able learn to eat that first. Offer anything you thing will be tried I use to sprinkle some egg and biscuit on the veggies.
  15. 6 weeks is about the time they start to feed themselves so things should be okay.
  16. yes watching is the key. How old is the one you removed? As to colour I would think you have a mauve http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....showtopic=12631 standards for blues http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....showtopic=12640 standards for grey and greygreen. I would love to see a shot of the one with the clear wings when fully feathered!
  17. I'm not sure which hen you are referring too, Lady Feathers. She means Beaker and I would say she is spangle too.
  18. Yeah the first thought that popped into my head was it would be great in summer as cool treat.
  19. They don't work for me either Lady. It is either due to the picture being moved breaking the link or deleted. As to the grey - a wasn't sure if the second picture was a third grey or just another of the one in the fist picture.
  20. are one of the parents a pied? A spot on the head is a sign of a pied, even in a normal looking bird. It can also mean the bird is split recessive pied. Elly and I posted at the same time.
  21. what a change a week (almost) as made
  22. Which grey one did you get Karen?
  23. You can't be split for Spangle. It's a dominant gene so either mum or dad must be one. Did you do close breeding? or colony breeding? Can we get a picture of the foster parents as well? - oops the pictures hadn't loaded up yet. okay now I see it all Fatty is the spangle. You can note it down now that they are split for blue too.
  24. I believe if you want the bird and are willing to put in the extra work then there shouldn't be a problem with having cats and a bird. Others on here have cats and dogs and they get along okay. My cat will leave by birds alone (in cage only never out together!) if they are inside she will get close to have a sniff the first time but after that ignores them. This came about becuase I would yell at her when she was close to the cage. As I stated it is possible as long as you understand the risks and the extra work needed to make it a happy home for all.
