  1. agree with Kaz, but grey-green matches with Masha's grey/silver cheek patches. You can make a note that Mash is split for opaline and Blue.
  2. if you have them set up for breeding then about 10 days.
  3. yep I love the name Blackie too I thought Whisky a yellowface grey rather than a grey-green, but it could be just the flash washing out her body colour. I agree with Kaz with the rest. Freebie might be a girl too with the look of the white rings.
  4. Thanks all. The males where added about 3 hours later and i got some interesting surprises. Kree (grey-green spangle) turning into a huge flirting/mating machine. His eyes where almost all white and he was trying his best to mate while both cling to the side of the cage! He calmed down quickly which I was thankful for. The other was Thistle throwing herself at Squeaker, nudging and pushing at him to mate, which the scary cat ran away from As per normal Ringo is her snotty best with Poka but he is still singing away as always.
  5. Budige genetics can be hard to grasp at first. Her to an Ino cock = Ino hens and clear body sons. *Warning - advanced genetic talk ahead* Not both sexes she can only give a normal gene to her daughters who will get the Ino gene (wither albino or lutino) from the father (and as hen must show this) the sons will get the Ino gene + a Clearbody gene, since this is a par ino gene they will appear as clearbodies but can create full ino daughters later.
  6. Now that the Breeding area is all set up (Work on Breeding Area/room) I have started to set up the paris. This morning I moved the hens into the cages. Cage 1 - Reepicheep and Kazza Cage 2 - Berry (fuzzy picture) and Kree Cage 3 - Ringo and Poka Cage 4 - Thistle and Squeaker
  7. Good to hear that the babies have grown up well and now enjoying life out with the flock.
  8. he has posted a link to a table listing all the possible outcomes with DEC
  9. nice looking birds.
  10. Ahh okay so I was thinking along the right lines but have not heard that title given before. I would give him some time if he is just new. He might just be calling out to the local birds and such.
  11. It's great that he loves your son since I recall it was a very friendly budgie that got you thinking of adding one to your family. You seemed to have hit the jackpot on a very outgoing and human friendly budgie. Some do take a while to warm to their owners.
  12. Please post a pictures of your DEC budgies here so that others can learn about the mutation. Include name, sex, colour, and other mutations (if any).
  13. Please post a picture of your Fallow budgies here so that others can learn about the mutation. Include name, sex, colour, and other mutations (if any).
  14. :ausb: I did some final changed today. Gave the cages one last clean out and set up the perches and feeding cups. I believe I am now ready to add the pairs tomorrow! moved a support out of the way (all work done by me and what should have only been 5 mins took almost 20 (Laughing out loud)) cages all set up and waiting. Nursery/ holding cage all ready. While I was working out there I put a nest box in the cage as I have heard some breeder do so to pick out the hens that are ready. Ringo turning into the cow she is and was chasing everyone away. Thistle who is normally the shy one that waits her turn was actually the first to land on it! These two are definitely going into cage tomorrow. I was thinking Reepicheep however it seems Berry is more ready with the interest taken. Some how I've got to decide soon.
  15. Seconding what Elly stated :dbb1:
  16. she is still a spangle the mixed cheek patches and thin lines on the flight wings show that. Could you tell us what colour she looks in real life? It's a bit hard to tell in the shots if she is a grey-green or a yellowface type 2/goldenface with the bleed through making her look like a green bird.
  17. might be a grey-green opaline spangle.
  18. umm.. can you tell me what a Croaker is first?
  19. A yellow bird with a white face....WOW! sorry that's is what I firs thought then realised you must be meaning the cheek patches. A picture is the best. Many times people state one colour and others called it another.
  20. thanks again for the offer Daz, I'm sure later I will be asking you to build me some cages Ohh and I need to contact Dave and see if he still has that set of cages or if he gave up waiting and gave it away. I don't believe how much time has gone by.
  21. Well finally I have had the work on the doors finished :yellowhead: They close again and I have a screen set up for the day time. I have the cages almost set up to go. I do need to get a night light to work as yet but I do have an idea that might work that I will be heading out tomorrow to buy (if available still) and then all it will come down too is picking pairs (Laughing out loud). front- door shut for daytime front - door ajar (where I go in and out in the day) inside- I think the only solid pair I have in mind is Squeaker and Thistle. I was thinking of trying Poka with Tootie to give him a run at fatherhood with a known good hen, and he has been bugging her for about 4 months now but I was surprised this afternoon to see Kree flirting to her and chasing Pie away (who was only trying to stay close his dream girl)
  22. if you have a photo editing program you could try and change the colouring of a picture to match closer to the normal.
  23. the average is around 10-12 years. With a good diet and yearly check up with an avian vet this can be longer.
  24. I was expecting a story of a budgie who believed they are a bat! I've not seen that before but some of mine would sleep clinging to the cage in the corner behind a ladder toy. Once I removed that they returned to the perch.
