  1. Ohh I really thought I updated this. She has stoped at five which is a great number for a clutch. Considering it looks as if egg number 4 is fertile too. I'm getting quite amazed at all these red lines Tommorrow I will be checking the last one and fingers crossed, we might get 5 out of 5 for fertile. Oh I remember now I updated my web page, they have a page of their own the link is at the top of the page in the bird's area.
  2. The first one: I think grey green spangle, either dilute or cinnamon or maybe even an opaline. The second: I WANT! Yellowface type 2 spangle domiant pied. and opaline too I think. The third: opaline spangle. I think she might be mauve.
  3. WelL I havn't hear of it before, is this a moult or us it just turning yellow? Is there anything yelllowing the cage that the budgie could be rubbing on? If there is I would say remove it, transering colour would not be a safe thing. If it is a moult.....well opaline does make the bars on the head lighter I wonder if it cuased the yellow to be too pale to pick up at first and it is now moulting in stronger. Ask her if you can use a picture to show us please
  4. It does seem to flow better as a word, wonder why no one thought of it before Most likely becuase there was a horse colour creamino already.

looks good, folks you can click the picture to get a slightly larger picture. I have a silly question but where is your door to get in? I can't see it in the photo. **Topic moved to correct area**
  6. I was just going to add 'an avain vet' to the list.

Looks great and lots of interesting and difficault angels just perfect for enriching the mind. Looks like skip is having a ball. Just wanted to check the plant is of cuase budgie safe?
  8. Woot! Go you I wish you all the best. Just wondering what did you need to get into the course? Not sure if NZ has OP's or something else to mark grades.
  9. why not Lemino then As to the chromosomes I was amazed when I found out. These poor hens having to do all the work laying eggs and brooding, then can't even blame the male if they get all boys
  10. I would say mauve normal. Since you talk of a grey tint to her feathers as well. In pictures they look a lot like a cobalt.
  11. Lutino is just the ino gene which removes the blue from the bird. (there isn't really a 'green' gene) Albino is a joining of the blue gene (which removed the yellow from the bird) and the ino gene, which i just said removed the blue. So your left with a white bird. Ino is a different gene to the colour genes so an lutino can still make a normal green bird with paired with a normal.
  12. They don't have to preen, yes they do in a flock area to keep a connection as mates but when set up to breed that get reduced (or stoped) and the singing and bobbing that you spoke of started to happen more often. Do you know if this male as breed before? What about the hen? You might have an experienced hen with an inexperienced male, which is a good thing, but it will take him a while to read and understand the signs she is giving.
  13. I didn't see the picture before. I have that same feeding bowl and my hen Freckle tryed to make a nest in it, while kicking out all the seed I moved it down a bit in the cage and that stoped her for now, that was about three months back I think. If the are too young might have to split them up for about a week to break the bond that's forming. Of cuase one back together they will start bonding agian and you might have to continue this until they are old enough.
  14. i didn't see the cat either,w as too blinded by the budgie cutness. I think Elwood is my fave, which is odd since I normally go for the pieds.
  15. I think we have agreed she is a yellowface type 1. (besides super cute )
  16. That's correct Hurdy Karen knows her ino's so trust her when she said she is an albino. It's not recessive just sex-lined like cinnamon. If the hen IS a creamino, which does look possible with that first shot, then we have two blue birds (yellowface is linked with the blue gene) In that case you will get albinos and creaminos.
  17. double-factor spangle have no markings at all like ino's Greywing or dilute would match, but normaly greywing is only 50% colour reduction. So you might be right with your first choice.
  18. Yeah I agree Rainobw, there isn't a hint of mixing in the blue which leads to yellowface type 1 (goldenface is only for the type 2 gene) So this little bird has put me back to the way I was thinking is correct and that website (http://www.geocities.com/budgie-place/p_colors.html) is wrong in it's statment about the white on the wings.
  19. Ask away in the mutation forum and all will help explain anything you want to know.
  20. love the names
  21. There can be all sorts of reasons, a first timer not uderstanding what to do with these eggs, it might be becuase she is too young or if you haven't had her a long time she might have seen this behaviour in her past. If she isn't with a mate then she is simply laying beause you have offered a nesting site and started her cycling and so she might be eating them becuase of stress. If your in a coleny breeding set up she might be getting bothered by other hens or even males sometimes either for the nest box or courtship/mating. You can get egg eaters in budgies and if you find you have be a bit sneaky to have any eggs from the pair hatch, that is you need a second pair set up and move the eggs to the other nest. Budgies are happy enough to take extra eggs as their own. Now the big question: are you sure it is her that is eating them?
  22. yes boss is, becuase the yellow is patchy. a lutino has a bright even yellow all over (sometimes with white flight feathers)
  23. Thanks guys Tootie is a very good mother, she hate me going anywehre near the box and if out and see me dived back into it. She is going well and only sneezes a little bit when she is due again for another egg, when all her breathing space is squished again. Egg 6 is due today so I will let you know when it arrives, or if she is going to stop now at 5.
