  4. Yeah I would say not opaline as well there are bar marking in the 'v' shape between the wings. Just slighly odd feathers, Pie as one or two feather with blue edging on his wings, but not opaline.

vrey cute I would just keep traing with her. Putting it on fr short amounts of time and mabye give a good treat while she wears it so she conencts it to a good thing.
  10. Depends on what type of dominant pied.
  11. I love them Welcome Tweeter and Twitter.
  12. Well not really I don't fuss around the hen and eggs when they are hatching, believe the fact having me hanging around would bother the hen too much. Besides which I've never actually heard a chick still in the egg.
  13. It sould like your useing a normal cage and just adding the box, this is fine. I'm doing that now. With an untame mum she might be a bit more protective of the babies towards you than other, but just go slowly and talk calmly and they are normally happy to move out of the way for you to have a look.
  14. It could be nasal discharge. That looks likea stain and like the feathers are wet. Does he sneeze much/at all? Or can you hear him breath? I take it he had had it all his life. Does he rub a certain area of his cage and if so what colour is it?

That's great he might have been introduced to fruit before you got him. Stress of moving can bring on some diarrhoea in budgies just keep an eye on it and if it gets worse or last longer than a few days or gets stuck to his vent try and get him seen by a vet, many do a bird check up with all new budgie they buy just as a precaution.
  16. are you sure the feather have all grown in fully?
  17. Lutino cock split blue with yellowface type two blue hen okay this is what I state first and after your answer changed it before thinking the matter over. I believe this is possible. Here is why: Green is dominant to blue and so a bird only need one gene for it to show. Lutino is a bird with a green (normal) gene and the ino gene. The ino is a different gene to the blue gene and can be carryed (split) like any other recessive gene.
  18. I haven't heard of them on the wings, but that does sound like a fatty tumour. And since it has erupted it will need to be seen by a vet to get treatment for infection. Operations are tricky with budgies. There is a picture on here of someones budie with one on the belly. http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index.php?showtopic=8316 Does it look like that at all?
  19. You had that planed from the start :rip: The head spot is found on all spangles. As tot he blue bit I can see it too but can't see any blue in the wings, so I don't think he is opaline.

1). How do you tell if its a guy/girl? When they are young, they have bars all the way to their cere, a male budgie will have a smooth pink cere while a female will have a pale blue one with white rings. It is hard to tell sometimes. Have a look on eterri's site (budgietalk) I think she had a section that shows the difference. 2). How long will it take them to be more comfortable with their surroundings? He seems to be scared and isn't really moving in his cage. this can depend on the bird, some only take a day others up to four or a week. Just don't make sudden moves around the cage and keep up the talk, or if you not there leave a radio on. Silence equals danger. 3). Whats the deal with the mirror? A mirror in the cage is another bird to the budgie and they bond very quickly to that other one and not to you. A mirror is a personal choice and it depends on what you where after with this feathers family member. If you want one happy to be with you and possible talk then a mirror isn't a good idea. 4). What fruit should I give him? apple, pear, grapes are all good, jut be sure not to give them any of the seeds. Also veggies are better for them since fruit has a lot of sugar in it. Lettuce, carrot, sprouts, broccoli and corn. Just remember it take a long while for them to try any of this so keep it to a small amount to start with.
  21. OMG how cute is that Pisst: http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....wtopic=8917&hl= :hap:
  22. Or a double factor spangle.
  23. how long does it take for them to lay? nine days from mating to the first egg, could be a bit longer for first time parents any other beahavior to look for? yes the mouting sould increase and she will start to inspect the box. she is eating iodine so much!is this somthing to do with the breeding? yes as kirby said. Or it just might be the easiest thing in the cage to chew, females chewing on bark and toys is a sign of breeding behaviour as well. she has, egg food ,oats ,fresh veg, iodine block, cuttle fish freash water and vitamen drops is there somthing I should add to her diet? No that all sound good. good luck Smilyl If your male is split or blue you will get half of green half of blues. Also you will get half spangles and half normals. You will only get clearwings if your hen is split for it.
  24. :hap: I thought it easier just to change them. If you want to talk about it post a new thread so we don't confuse people here.
