  1. Yeah I can't see any pied marks, the greenish colouring in his feathers is from the yellowface gene ( what is making him type 2, or goldenface) Fluffy is a grey her patches are the grey-blue I spoke of.
  2. Remove the older egg, it's way past it's due date and as lovey said after around the third day if not sat on it would not have devolped. There is a spot on the back of the head, but I'm not sure if that is just a shadow or what.
  3. I think you have a yellow face type 2 Mauve. Or maybe a goldenface. Since his cheek spots are blue he can't be a grey, they have grey patches too, or greyish blue. So the next one is mauve which is a blue with two dark factors. he is stunning Even if he isn't spangle.
  4. There are 2 different dominant pieds, Dutch and Australian. It's the second one that normal has the band around the chest area. Both of these types can come in double or single factor and as Lovey said can look like a recessive. Recessive is when the colour is around the tummy, vent and start of tail area. Normally with patchy wing markings as well. The spot on the head is for dominate pieds. This page, that i wrote) has some pictures that might help you: http://geocities.com/nerwenfuzz_82/budgiemutations.htm It is meant to be on the main site but as of yet not put there. This sounds like she is opaline, this is where the edges of the feathers on the wings are the same colour as the body colour. Or what the body should be if there isn't any other mutation in play. I have a hen with green wing feathers but her body is only yellow, she is still an opaline, bucause the muation she has only works on the body not any where else. I think pictures of this 'band' your talking about wouldn't be good, it sure doesn't sond normal, can you find another avain vet? or find out where the one that worked there went to? Odd, you might have a younger bird and then s/he might be in the middle of a moult, the fact that Honey has rings in her eyes means we have a dominant pied on our hands. Iris rings show up around the 6 months mark. But don't worry about how strong it is, I have one 5 years and her's is only faint.
  5. This might help : http://geocities.com/nerwenfuzz_82/budgiemutations.htm Again there are two types of yellowfaces, type one where the yellow is in the face area only. Then there is type two, and goldenfaces, where the yellow 'bleeds' into the body with each moult slowly turning the bird green. Aqua colur is also used to discribe these birds. The bird in my sig in the middle with the yellowface is a goldenface.
  6. Wow your a long way out in emerld Is it nice out there? As daz said you can breed at any time just be sure to remember to give them a 6 months break after every second clutch. I myself, since i have no Show bench to worry about ( :fear ) like to breed them in the spring time and autumn. I'll look forward to hear your answer to Daz's questions.

great pitures. She looks like she laoves life to the max
  8. Right Now I ust have some questions. *How old are your birds? *Are any related? It also helps us to know the sort of things you do know about breeding and such so we can get a better picture on how to help you. I'm not sure on how true that is, it might have been down to the way the cages where set up. Some need the sound of others breeding start their cycle and some do better when the can see another pair across the way (another cage) Also not all budgies will like the bird that 'we' pair them too. Trying a different partner will sometime result in a successful clutch. Welcome to the place, I'm sure later we will all love hearing about your birds. Have you a digit camera to show us pictures of your little flock? We love photos here.
  9. Teehee I really like the third one where all you can see is his chest froms tanding too lose. It's as if he has come up to see where you have hid yourself.
  10. wow that looks super.
  11. I'm using my old cage as a Quarantine cage which is going to be inside the house. I'm hoping to get my new birds in pairs or more rather than one at a time.

Yes I'm confused with the box as well since she had never come into contact with a male ?? Does she have a lump or swollen vent area? just before laying an agg you can see that sometimes, other times it's just a inlarged vent. Other signs of egg binding are sitting on the ground for long times, and straining to lay the egg. It sounds like she is ill and needs to see a vet. Many illnesses start off as a sleeping, fluffy bird. I would remove the box any eggs she does lay will be clear (empty) and budgies eggs are not big enough to make an omlete with to be bothered. Hens don't need to ley eggs all the time like chickens. Remove of the box stops this behavour and as you know now the troube that can happen when budgies start to lay eggs. Also she might never stop laying once she starts.
  13. that is funny And just want happens at my place with the water bowls at bath time.
  14. I'm so glad taht your mother bird has caught onto the programe. Sounds like she is doing a good job now.
  15. stop playing with him. ??? have you go something he love to play with maybe when he is running away or hopping to the ground start to play madly with that (make it ring or flash with light something) and he might pop over to take it from you. I think that would help with the floor if you make him want to play somewhere else the floor 'get up' game will not be interesting then.

Looks good. I would think some more branches going horizontal. Some of them in there look too vertical to be much help to the budgies to sit on.
  17. I tryed giving Freckle an empty one to sit in, by movign the last of the seed from one to the others but she just stated on with the others!!!!!!!!
  18. Then sometime it doesn't stop :budgiedance: Freckle is being a pain and doing this to all the new ones I just got for them. Silly one I know with her it's a nesting thing.
  19. 2 hour feeds is what I would be doing also. It might be an idea to try the mum again in the morning, she might get the idea. Also you might be able to add him back to the other hen when her eggs hatch if she takes care of them.

I remember that now didn't remember it was him that got it. Sorry to be picky I just know sometimes it's easy to overlook problems in your own birds it it happens slowly your mind starts to tell you it's 'normal' for them. Did you try these two together? Thinking about your story with the son and what not.

aww :ausb: I already have one that isn't interested in breeding as well, not sure with the plans i have for the furture if I can house another. And I have to ask but is Razzle (Razzel) okay? His beak looks a bit pitted.
  22. French moult looks more as if the chicks where plucked. It where the feather falls out before growing in fully. I think a picture is in need, but if your really worried take them for a visit to an avain vet, if one is near you.
  23. Feather dusters is an accident. Yyou can get a baby like this from any sort of normal parents. So there isn't a way to know about the gene until you get one. They can live for a while if given extra special care but I wouldn't think Whipper would still be around.
  24. that is to say a yellowface type II Not Not sure how I read that before and not see that :(Laughing out loud):
  25. No hope for him at all
