New Budgies
Don't daz!! I remember reading that once you have a DF grey in your stock it's hard to remove the grey gene. I sent you a message this morning with a name Idea for the spangle blue - Apollo :ausb: Where did you get the other two??? I'm on the market for three more birds!
-
Melanistic Spangle
me too :ausb: I didn't get to read it all ( have it bookmarked for later) but it's very interesting, I wish there was pictures of one "BEFORE" the moult to help understand it better. edit to add: okay now that I have read it completely I see that he does have a baby shot and adult shot of the same bird. I'm still a bit confused but what I got from the site was, the babies hatch out looking normal but with the clear tail and then with each molt lost some colour in the wings. Is this what others got?

What Colours Would The Babies Be?
YOur right, the fact she has red eyes makes her a Lutino. It's just we can't see the red in the picture. There are other genes that can make an all yellow or all white bird. You will get grey geen normals and grey green spangles. If your hen is split for blue ( one of her parents where blue) then you can get ones to look like dad (grey spangle) and grey normals. All the boys of the clutch will carry the Ino (lutino) gene. Does this make sence?

I'm glad things are going well. Yes your right with spot. I just keep forgetting about the psangle bit with him so a chance for yellow DF spangles there :ausb: Shouldn't that be Curry and Laila?? Or has Spot been a bad boy?

Boris Is A Mummy!
Unless Boris is split for blue ( sorry Karen but I can't recall her parents) the bubs will be greygreen. Which the first might be. If she is then you can get greys. They are so cute Lucky you, I cuaght Marine and Tootie at it again today But I'm holding off until it warms up some more.

My Budgies Have Caught It!
I was meaning a breeding cage to put them in. What Karen siad is a good idea too, I thought of it but wondered aobut the egg getting too cold while you waited for her to set up camp in the nest box.

I agree Cheeta Also the one you call the last baby in that row of pictures looks like the second, judging by the length of tail feathers that have grown in.

What Mutation/color/sex Is My New Bird?
Glad he has a name and a wonderful idea

What Colours Would The Babies Be?
Is the yellow an Ino or a DEC or a DF spangle? I can't see the eye colour from here.
-
My Budgies Have Caught It!
I would move the pair into a box by themselves and put the eggs in the box, she might see them as her's still and continue sitting, or throw them out to start again, either way it sounds as if your willing to let them continue.

Could This Be A New Partner For New Budgie Echo?
well there are two sorts of bands, one which is put on when they are babies called 'close ring' this come in different colour depending on the age of the bird and are needed to show your bird. They are metal and have the breeders number ingraved into it. Does this match the reddish one on your hen? the other is what I stated above.

Could This Be A New Partner For New Budgie Echo?
aww sorry to hear that Hops, I saw an old post of yours with her and the last post was about taking her, I couldn't find one with what happened. I guess the vet wanted to tell you in person but I think that was a bit harsh, I would rather hear over the phone straight away. The plastic band would be a split ring. You can get them from pet shops and such. They are used to mark family lines so inbreeding can't happen.

More New Owner Questions
checking the crop is for babies, to make sure they are being feed. He sounds fine and doing great if he can put himself to bed already, it might help later if each time he climbs back into the cage, you say something like "bed time", or "in to bed" Not 100% if it will work but later he might do that when you need to get him back away. If your wanting him to talk keep repeating a simply word or statment, like What's up and he could learn to talk. It all depends on who had you work at it.

Genetics Test
The answers: http://www.tri-statebudgie.org/genetics%20test.html I only posted a link becuase I think copying and pasting answers that someone else wrote out would be wrong, since I have no name to give credit for. Plus someone else later can try for themselves later, with out seeing the answers laid out here. Sorry for not posting them sooner like I said Plus any questions about an answer feel free to ask.

Dutch Dominant Pied
well I was thinking mum had a lot of markings on the wing, BUT the iris rings are the real give away. Since neither have them it means they can't be dominant. That would be since Lovey is right about the recessive parents not being able to produce domiant babies, that all the birds in this family are as first stated, recessive. See how hard working out mutation can be with pictures sometimes, (Laughing out loud). And the last picture of Chase I would say boy even though the other pictures where very pale white/blue.
