okay, i'm just catching up to all this, and i think there is a couple misunderstandings, prolly all on my part. 1: starskie(the skyblue greywing) is NOT related to milo and the recessive pieds & lemon,, i just wanted to confirm his mutation. Ahh okay then sorry for the mix up there 2: if lemon who is from the same clutch as milo is an opline they why cant milo be one? I don't think Lemon was stated as one?? But opaline is a sexlinked gene so to get a male opaline you need one gene from both parents. 3: I didnt mean to insinuate theat the parents were normals because i dont know what they are. i meant it as a separte question. I didn't think you had. "if budgies started out as normal blues and normal greens where did the pieds come from" I meant in general of all budgies. In England when they started to breed them, interbreeding with the small numbers and such natual colour in the bird started to show up, this is normally hidden by the green in the wild becuase any other colours would have been killed early. 4: I f milo is a poorly marked oplaine does that mean he should not be bred? (if in future i decide to) and here i though milo was so pretty. He is pretty, and if you are only wanting to breed for fun then there isn't anything wrong with that, he and his kids wouldn't win a show for Opaline but there isn't anything wrong with that if your not wanting to go down that path

The one Ringo has are two more of Daz's by Jazz and Bluey Jazz is one of Karen (furnvale) birds. okay the fouth baby of Tootie's is Storm And the one under Ringo I will call Kazza , cuase Bubbles you have one named after me. BIG NEWS!!!!!!!! DAZ YOUR egg under Tootie has Hatched over the night. Now I had a name lined up but with the list of Karens I found another I liked. So he is dubed Darel (Da-relle) Looking up the list again that means Blue sky. Piccie time: I think the top one is Cupid (might be opaline) the bottom one is Tingle and Storm is under Cupids wing with Darel in the middle.

The two new ones don't have names the two big ones are Cupid and Tingle. There was a short storm this afternoon breaking over me about 3/4 of an hour after finding that they had hatched and I was wondering about calling one Storm, or some other rain name. I was hoping to check on the little one with Ringo one last time before leaving them for the night but she has gone all protective and isn't going out of the box like she was doing when I checked on her Wondering about giving a nudge to her she puffed up and started the hissing breathing at the sight of it, so I think she is going to be okay. Kree is acting as he has been standing/sleeping near the hole to the box and staying clear of Ringo when she jumped out for some food. Ringo hasn't been any more or less of a bully to him.

I think the one you have in a few days would be fine, unless you see any of the signs Rainbow talked about. You have only just started this and so should be easy to stop, if he nibbles at your mouth you can distract him with a finger or another toy. ANd your doing a wonderful job as a first time budgie owner.

I don't think Milo is Opaline I see yellow on his wings and lines in the 'v' area on the back. It was stated before with lemon that she had no rings in the eye so she is a DEC which is recessive pied and dominant together. grey wing (clearwing and dilute) is another recessive gene so will only show with two gene given to one chick which means only one baby out of a clutch can appear greywing while others are not.

well things have kinda changed I didn't get Kree out this morning ( hoping for anothers imput before doing anything) BUT the egg labeled 9 under Ringo Hatched a day early!!!!!!!!!!!! It's so so tiny all alone and I panicing about Ringo's care but after a few checks there was a little yellow blob in the crop. I checked Tootie after seeing that little one and saw that an egg was cracking open. So I left them be. Once happy that Ringo's chick was feed I checked Tootie's box and found this: How cute Marine gave one last feed and left and Tootis shifted for me to snap one last piccie: I havn't got any hard fast names for these two... for a change. So ideas will be considered. Daz no hint about hatching with the your egg under Tootie, which I caluated to hatch the same day, I have fingers crossed it's fine, I candled it the day before and it looked just like egg one did. (which hatched)

Don't panic they sound like they have bonded, Marine goes a bit nuts when Tootie starts to spend time in the box as well.

Well the fact is they are not bonded at all, he doesn't feed her or even try to do so, the closest they are is both will feed beside each other on the few times she hopes out, after she is sure to have chased him off both branches and away from the bowl she wants to eat from (there are three). To foster the two eggs under Ringo (which are not hers) would mean giving Tootie 10 eggs :dbb1: (counting the already hatched two) I don't know how well Ringo will do as a mum and I know I might have to move them to tootie anyway but I would still rather see how she handles feeding them. I'm not sure at the moment I think I lean more to removing him. I just wanted to see what others would think to do. I had hoped by now having spent this long together in the cage they would have gotten closer.

Just so we are clear here this is poop stuck to feather or is this the actual colour of the feathers?? If you can post picture we would understand better, if you can we can understand as well.

Sorry to hear that Kirby My egg three didn't hatch, it's a bit scary how our two stories seem to match.

Number three egg didn't hatch, I don't think it will its no where near as dark as the others when I candled it. I hope all the others after this egg are okay, I don't want to be touching them too much. Update on Ringo: She is still sititng well but not looking the best, she dicided to start moulting a little while back and has pin feathers around her face. I started to add small bits of millet in the box for her to eat since I was worried about her not comming out to do that. Also I'm wondering if it would be better to make her a full single parent and remove Kree from the breeding box. I'm fearful that the extra stress of this 'other bird' near her box is making it harder, also I'm wondering what Kree might do when the eggs hatch. I'm not sure what do so what do you guys think?

Freckle my spangle has slight markings like that right at the base of her tail.
