  1. very dams over this side (east) are around 35% and we can only use buckets for watering things. No hoses. Not sure if it's super bad over on the west side.
  2. that right so Dad would be split for it and any that are will be females.

*Steals all birds show* Is that my Zuess as a bub?
  4. Yes your right then do get a bit blurry with these sort of things. I was only wondering becuase of my birds, but recessive pied is a different gene to dominant and can cuase a different affect, when the bird get's older we may see the bleed into the blue as well.

others have used the Crayola ones before with out a problem
  6. what a darling What makes her look funny standing? I'm glad to gave her a home.
  7. actually i've been using Baby oil. Thought if it's safe to put on their faces it would be okay for the babies foot. None have had trouble with it. I think I will stick with the old ring it's the number that really tells you who is who.
  8. Yep I love that time looking each day to see if you can chase a glimpse of some sort of colour Ring number 35 came off over night but 36 stayed put so I think I know who is who with those two now Daz. I hope so anyway. But to be sure I will most likly keep them both so I'm certain I've got your bird in the mix (Laughing out loud). And to be sure I'll not plan to breed either to any of the other family out there now. But lucky me gets to practice my ringing again (Laughing out loud). I'm not sure I'm every going to enjoy that. I have different colour rings would it be an idea to use a different colour for this one day? which I think if from your egg daz?? This other colour is being put on Jazz's bubs.
  9. goldenfaces look like a green bird but they still are a blue lined bird. This is this the mother: looking close you can still see a mix of blue with the now green body.

Aww Poor Pete, but you are teaching him that interacting with you get him to fun places, hold the wheatgrass for a little while when they eat it so they connect you to the yummy food. The cere can look very much alike when young and yes the rings are what you want to look for. A bit older they look like this: Boy: Girl:
  11. He is a yellowface type 2 cobalt. He could be a goldenface, I'm not sure with recessives if they should have the blue belly turn green as well. There is another thing that can brighten the yellow colour: the violet gene. I can't see the cheek spots to see if they are a very dark blue or not. my goldenface (dominant) pied has green all over:
  12. Yep loveys link is right. It's the same stuff we have in your skins (or lack off for some ) to get pale, tan, olive and black skins. I can not answer the colour of feet to violet gene since I've never heard info that violets should or should not have grey feet.

no the hb is is a harder pencil. The soft the better so your not having to press hard on the egg. If you have kids texta pens you can use them, or any non toxic water based pen. 2-3 B would be soft It goes up to 6 B (i believe) and I think the HB is the hardest.
  14. Yep Just depends on the amount of Melanin.
  15. I would think the cinnamon markings would be in a spangle pattern as well if Df so I'm thinking like you Karen and I forgot the cere as well, but I think Daz put that out before seeing pictures like I did with your PM.
  16. Cupid is the first chick hatched from Marine and Tootie. He is showing all the signs that Reepi did who turned out to be Opaline, but the tips of his wings look whitish. I'm not very worried yet they are only just starting to show and could show more colour soon.
  17. Cross out DEC becuase of the iris ring. Would a DF spangle still have normal cinnamon markings??
  18. *Nerwen* replied to a post in a topic in Budgie Pictures
Pete cere is so very pink becuase he is young and yes it will change to the blue like Higgin's. Some males don't such as recessive pieds, lutino's and albinos and DEC's they keep the birght pink all their lives. with a lot of work it can happen, and it looks as if you are doing well to have them all out of the cage for 'fly' time.
  19. daz why didn't you come out with that idea before?? In that case Karen rule out a spangle as a partner as well.
  20. Cupid is looking to have white on the tips of his wings so I'm a bit confused at the moment.
  21. Yep minus the Clearbody gene (and in hen they will show it) so you can be sure it's from him if any appear in the nest.
  22. I would love to see this one live Karen what I meant was a blue lined bird, not another clearbody that way if you get clearbody babies you know that we have worked him out correctly. So that could be spangle, pied or any recessive gene bird.
  23. he could be an opaline spangle, he wings don't show me much spangle markings yet. Can't wait to see the chick from the bottom two get feathers Today I ringed both storm and Darel, I think I have them right in any case it's a day early for one of them so if only one ring falls off we will really know then. Also ringed Kazza.
  24. Teehee I wondered boy a while back but was unsure with that shot of the cere it really points to boy. If this is the case you put him to a normal blue hen and get only Clearbody girls to really clear up what China is. Luso - the light grey is an interesting idea, but I agree Clearbody seems to suit better. and the eyes looks black to me in that shot.
