Single factor spangles and normals. All the babies will carry the rec. pied gene if the DF spangle is yellow the babies will be green unless he carries the blue gene. If he is white you will get a mix of yellowfaces and whitefaces.

He is a cutie, and he has such a mix of colours on him. There is violet around his chest, sky-blue in the middle of his belly and cobalt around the edge. I think he might have a question mark on him until you breed with him to see his offspring. In the first picture I can see faint markings of spangle. He could be a few things: 1. a double factor dominant pied, these have markings close to a recessive and not a lot of wing markings. 2. a single factor spangle dominant pied. Maybe with a dilute gene to lighten the marks in the wing. 3. A Double factor spangle with the pied gene showing slightly as suffusion. DF spangle are normally completely white (or yellow) like Ino but with black eyes which get iris rings when older and a blue cere. A greywing is part of the dilute family. Looking at the other two they are either a cobalt of violets it's hard to tell in photos.

I would say Sora & Kyan and cobalts Riebie is right about about the opaline Oh-Oh is a very cute spangle, with I think a greywing gene as well.

An avian vet is the best for the bird. Then you will also know the cuase of this pronlem. The bird's eye is important to them and you don't want to be messing with guesswork on how to treat it. Sinus infection with budige show up at the start as an infected eye. This could be the start of that showing, or something more simple such as sratching often. To be sure the bird needs an avian vet.

They both look like boys to me too. Shell when they are young both have smooth looking ceres it's the colour you want to look at. A strong pink means boy a mix of pink blue white or purple will mean girl. When they are older the bumpy/crusty look are for females. But I seem to remember that Tweety was a surpise colouring.... can you remind me what the parents look like?

I've been told by a breeder that sperm can last in the hen for around 10 days. He seperates his hens from the rest of the flock for that long before pairing them up with a mate to breed. This seems likely and since I had read before this info that all the eggs can be firtile with only one mating it made sence

Some have stated that both feed each other but I have never seen that. She will continue to go in the box and if you have wood shavings or some other bed in it she will dig about and clean it out until she is happy. You may not see them mating. From checking out the box it can be a week to 2 before the first egg appears depending on when they breed. Look out for large runny poops this is a sign that and egg will appear soon. Plus if your hen gets a red and swollen vent.

I light sheet would work as a cover, more as a sun shader in the car so he doesn't get over heated. But you are the one that knows your bird the best. I was just suggesting. I cover mine over in the car it seems to calm them down.

I hope all goes well :bluebudgie: The beak may need constant triming all his life to keep in good shape or it may only be for a while until it starts to grow correctly. The vet should help work that out. He is an older bird and if this is the first time with veggies and fruit it could take a long time for him to try it. So only offer tiny amounts each day.

Keely - no she wouldn't be a type of pied. Rainbow has a bird that is purple on top and cobalt on her belly. (although her blueberry is a pied) To be sure we need a picture as close as possible to her real colour. As to using Danish or recessive - what ever makes sence to you as long as you understand they mean the same thing.

Beau: Dominant pied, skyblue greywing spangle There is some debate at the moment if the spot on the head means the bird is a dominant pied, carrying the recessive pied gene, is a different pied gene at the moment or that spangle getit and it doesn't mean pied. If you mean violet it's possible but to me those picture look cobalt. A photo as close to her colour could help clear it up. I handle all the young as well and I also kick my hens off the eggs, when I need to check if there is a new one or not. They bite and scream and finally move enough for me to see then happily tuck them all under again. You can handle the eggs a few times with clean hands to check on them, such as to see if they are firtile or not.

I think taking him would be okay, if you take out toys and only have a small bit of water in the dish so it doesn't spill the trip should be fine. I would check that thecottage owners are okay with a bird being there, even if they don't say the are pet friendly some places are will to allow a small bird.

YF ALWAYS have blue feathers under the wing not a bluey green or a mix of both. FGM - Could you tell us what he looked like as a baby?
