  1. As long as you didn't look at the answers Joey go ahead
  2. Hi Kerrie Welcome to the boards. Seems you are a bit swamped with the work of breeding but I'm glad your hunting out answers to help your surprise pets. Make sure you check on mum and babies at least once a day. I check mine both morning and before they settle at night. Check that the babies are getting food, you will see a yellow blob of food in the crop in very young babies, but with two already here it seems she has done a good job on that front. The egg and biscuit mix is great it good for them all to have. Don't worm them at the moment you can do so again when the babies are out of the nest. I'm not sure what you mean with "hang on cage stuff" If you mean Honey sticks (or seed sticks) They should only be used as a treat. When the babies are older (one week onwards) increase the servings of fresh food and try some new stuff they have turned their beak up to before. Mine will eat the fresh food over the seed while nesting. Millet sprays are a good thing to have. When the babies are trying seed they seem to learn to crack this seed fast. Handling the babies is fine, it's a good way to check on their development in the nest and it will start to tame them to humans. Around the 30 day mark really work on handing and tame the babies to get them loving human contact. I sure other will reply with things I missed
  3. Great pictures Kirby It's good to see them again Waiting for the others now. The bub look so cute in with the others.
  4. Thank you Joey that did help. I realize now it was my screen playing tricks (or my eyes ) and that bird isn't a cinnamon. How I wish that we had flight feathers on the bird it would solve the issue, texas clear bodies have grey flight feathers not black. The bird show is Bubbles bird (shiloh) not mine. I have a yellowface clearbody but I wanted another white bird so show the difference. The birds are adults or at least had a few moults and lost their baby feathers. The grey has a blue cere and Shiloh's is crusty brown (and has been breed) I can see Texas Clear body is a possible answer but I think with only this picture it's going to be questionable. A pied could be a possible answer as well. Due to the white around the chest. The circle you marked are apart of the reason I'm not sure on Clearbody. This this area that should be more white. I think a poorly marked (for showing) clearbody could have more colour than normal.
  5. Can you stay why you think Texas clearbody Joey? I'm just wondering I don't really see it myself. White base Clearbodys should have white body. This is one of Bubbles Clearbodys: I know she is a blue not a grey but you the idea that the body is white and not a pale grey.
  6. Holly is cute. I would have thought female with that coloured cere, but hens are not known to love their ball/toys that much
  7. Joey your doing great Kirby I'm guessing you have put the male first: Yellowface spangles (both cobalt and sky blue) Yellowface normals (both cobalt and sky blue) both cobalt and sky blue spangles both cobalt and sky blue Normals All the males will be split for cinnamon and Opaline. Yellowface spangles Yellowface normals Normal blues Normal spangles All the babies will be split rec pied.
  8. thanks Daz :bluebudgie: I thought it would be something like that but wasn't sure.
  9. A sneeze is what I thought of as well. Although it's a bit softer than what I've heard mine do (unless I have a quieter spray bottle :bluebudgie: ) Can you tell us if your got Rouge from a breeder or a pet shop? At four weeks my babies are only just venturing from the nest box (some don't come out to explore until five weeks) They are still being feed from dad as well, which is why Eterri said to watch he weight. Is he eating seed at all?

An avian vet can give meds for scaly face. There is one out now that is a spot on treatment like you do for fleas on dogs. Which Oil do you use? Baby Oil? that used on it's own works as well. edit to add - Seems Bea and I posted over each other. It's the ivermectin I was talking about I never remember what it is called.
  11. any idea what a 'The Dosing Tube' looks like?
  12. Interesting to know that a top show breeder is wiling to give wild grown seed to his flock still :bluebudgie: ( at least it read that is free/wild grown) Could you give an idea of what sort of multi-vitamin mixture is used? something else from the heath food shop?
  13. Sorry for not answering here for ages :bluebudgie: I admit I'm not 100% on the Mutation here. I simply found the pictures and believe I had them worked out :dbb1: I can see the point of this being a spangle as well and it seems to match.

Rexy Hi and welcome to the boards :bluebudgie: How long have you had these guys? I'm sorry you have had trouble with the pictures They seem to be the right size now for the boards (under th 450 X450 limit) and so I've put them back to normal in your first post. You can head over the the Mutation area of the boards for more help on the colour and genders of your birds. With females we state the cere is brown or tan rather than pink. We use pink for young males or Inos. If you look on Bubbles sig picture the two grooming each other have pink cere and this is what your Lutino should have if it's a male. Although looking closely at the picture I think you have a hen. Males with 'practice' bonding singing and feeding with each other if the hens don't wish to know them at that time so it's a very loose way of judging genders. Again welcome and I hope you enjoy it here.

Welcome Dr. Bork Bork. You have a cutie and seem to have done a lot of work on the taming side of things this last month. The cuddling is a bonding act, budgies that are partnered up will spend time wing to wing :bluebudgie: The biting could be all sort of things, she is unsure when your lips move and so attacks them, a lot of budgies seem to like to bite or chew on mouth and noses. It's best to keep them away from your mouth due to transferring of germs (both ways).

Your getting some great answer and the link to the safe food is good. But as to Thistle I give a little bit to my bird every now and then THey love it and haven't had an issue with it. It's in my own back yard so I know that nothing has been sprayed on or around it.
  17. Might have a hunt for that other thread then. Sometime we learn to judge bird better with different pictures and are wrong with first guesses. Although not having the iris rings is confusing, it might have been the main reason we picked Rec pied before. I have a dominant pied with a ring from one side to the other (it's how I came to calling her Ringo :bluebudgie: ) Here is the thread: http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....topic=11688&hl= Cheeta stated dominant. It was the one from the other site that was classed as recessive that you said looked like her. I would question that bird it is quite possible it is a DF dominant. (but that's another story)
  18. I would love a bigger picture but I guess that's out of the question :bluebudgie: I wondered about Texas clearbody but there seems to be a lot of grey colour still on the body. They should be all white with maybe some colour around the legs. I think he might be a light grey Opaline cinnamon. The cinnamon gene lighting the colour.
  19. Well ALL green bird still have the blue in the feathers and in some lights it shows up better (sometimes the flash plays affects on the colour of the feathers.) Since you can see the blue clearly then I would agree with you on the yelllowface.
  20. Can you tell me when the pictures where taken? Can we get a new one of 'her' now? In the pictures I above I don't think Sherbie is recessive. Check her eyes now and see if any iris rings have or are appearing. The patch of colour around the chest is a sign of dominant pied. (is she the one in your avatar too? ) It hard to tell in these pictures but in the last I think possibly a girl.
  21. Do you have new pictures of these guys? They are so cute.
  22. Great I hope all continues well now.
  23. Ohh I can't believe I missed all this! Congratulations on the Babies. Now get out there and bug all your friends for their camera, we wanna see.
  24. I'm sorry to hear that you lost the hen. How is the male going? I would try and hand rear the young like you are if the other family isn't affected the less contact they have now the better the chance of them not getting this virus. I haven't experience with hand rearing but I would think the seed is added later when you are trying to wean them onto eating seed. The packet should have instructions on the back of what consistency to make it for the age of the chicks. How old are they by the way?
  25. It's possible he is a young bird. I'm not sure he is a yellowface the yellow is even over the body and I only see green patches not blue. As to the hen yes she is Opaline and i think greywing but I can't see spangle signs.
