  1. If it's a young bird, it might be playing. Make sure you have enough toys in the cage for play time. Its also good to rotate new ones into the cage and take "over used" ones out to keep them from being bored. But that said, hanging upside down is quite normal. Budgies are very inquisitive, thats why we loooooove them! :parrot:
  2. I agree that "lemon" is a Yellow face factor 2 sky blue, but its hard to tell whether she is a double dominant pied. With a dominant pied, their eyes develop an iris ring (the white part of the eye). In a young bird, this starts out as a very faint thin grey circle on the outside of the eye. Take a close look at Lemon - I assume she is at least 3 months old since you have had her for 2 months already. If you can't see the iris ring then she is likely to be a recessive pied - which have "plum" eyes (no iris ring) throughout their entire life.

Definately a "SHE". This is normal for young females to look like when not in breeding condition. I had a hen which looked like this for ages, until she was about 18 months of age. Every budgie is different, some get brown ceres as early as 3 to 4 months, others it takes a bit longer, and others just go pale white. Sorry for your loss.

This is MAX our golden labrador. We bought him as a pup about 8 years ago when our daughter needed an operation. He loves to go camping and four wheel driving and is a big sucker for water!! As you can see his coat is wet. It was very hard to find a photo of him dry!!!!

That would be so terrible to find in the cage. Its not nice finding a dead bird at the best of times. Sorry for your loss.
  8. Hey GB, I got some more ivermectin (spot on neck) from vet yesterday and I asked her about the dilution rate. She said you can't dilute the spot on stuff with water because the water and ivermectin seperates (a bit like oil in water). It must be mixed with a different liquid of the same consistancy (Can't remember what it was... started with a "p") However the cattle ivermectin (to go in the drinking water) can be diluted with water but needs to be digested (ie put in their water).

Hi everybody! My husband has just completed my new aviary!!! We live on a property that backs onto a nature reserve, so we were inspired to build a miners cottage to blend into the landscape. After searching the internet for inspiration, we commenced collecting recycled roofing iron, weatherboards, and hardwood. We were even able to get a porch deck and an old toilet door. (It helps when you're mates with a demolisher!!) But before we began, my husband had to level the ground. This picture was taken mid Sept 2008 (Its also handy when you work for excavation business!!): About a month later, we commenced on building the foundation posts: We worked so hard on the aviary I didn't take any further progress photos until today. The finished product!!! I even have a lovely shaded spot against the fence for my breeding boxes! And some pics of the inside: What do you think! Don't I have a wonderful husband!

jwancia, your birds look great. I love dominant pieds... especially grey & violets. If it wasn't so close to Christmas I would make the trip to your shop to pickup some for myself.
