Itchy Bottom
I don't know if it is worms Boomberry. I can't find anything in my stuff on itch bottoms. Tape Worm the Symptoms are simple: diarrhea, death The Cestodes (tapeworm) parasite can be found in the intestine of birds. Not all tapeworms are pathogenic. A significant number can exist in a bird's intestine and not cause any ill effects. Treatment: For small passerines and psittacines, niclosamide at 500 mg/kg body weight. For parrots, praziquantel administered orally or dichlorophen at 600 mg/kg body weight. I worm my birds two weeks in to Quarantine and them every 3 months. You just put the medication in the Water for a 24 hour period. Best to do it the night before as they like to drink in the morning. I just wormed Razzle and will do Ash next tuesday.

1st Chick
I think that was caused by my daughter's wet hands. Well I have now Two Chicks about to fledge and the hen has already laid two more eggs. Here we go again. As for my Gay Budgie Huey....... I don't know what I am going to do with him. The poor hen is chasing him around the cage. He doesn't want to be interested. She will just have to wait until Ash is out of Quarantine. 3 more weeks.

Water
From the tape is okay but not from a hose. Especially if it is left in the sun.

Karen If you have to distroy your flock and the aviaries and bury them. Just make sure you have a cold beer. Lite Ice is nice. Or Harn Lite. I need a cold beer when I rebuild your aviaries.

Acting Strange...
How long has this been going on. If it has been a day or two your bird may have Aspergillosis. Symptoms: difficulty breathing, anorexia, emaciation, diarrhea, uncoordinated muscle movement, frequent neck stretching Description: This disease is a fungus that infects the respiratory tract of birds and on occasion the peritoneum and abdominal organs. Most suceptible are debilitated, weak and overcrowded birds. Symptoms of the disease are initially confined to the respiratory system with the bird displaying gasping, labored and rapid breathing. As the disease progresses diarrhea, ataxia (inability to coordinate voluntary muscle movement) and other symptoms develop. Typically fatal to the young bird in a couple of days. In the adult bird, the disease can progress for weeks. Treatment: Aspergillosis may be treated with fungicides (amphotericin B or possibly miconazale) in combination with amphenicol to kill secondary bacterial infection and nystatin to combat secondary fungal infection. In addition, if the bird is exhibiting diarrhea and vomiting, it should be given 5% dextrose, four doses daily at the rate of 4% body weight to maintain hydration. It may not be this but as Lin said

1st Chick
I hope so to. I read that if a dominant spangle is breed with a normal you will probibly always get spangles. If so I will try her next year with Ash and see if I get Grey Spangles.

My New Site
Hi all. I would like to say thank you for all the information and help all have been giving me. I was thinking back last night that it was only in April this year that I started here and also with my first budgie. (in some 27 years). That has now grow to a complete love of caring and breeding of these little guys. I have redone my web site and will be trying to shoot people to this forum. Please have a look and tell me what you think. Remember it will be on going developing it. My Webpage Hope you enjoy

New To Forum, Need Advice
If you can't get a concrete perch, a calcium perch will be better. He will manicue his claws and beak and he can get some calcium at the same time.

What Colours
I thought that green wasn't a gene or colour? That it was made uip of the blue and yellow. Remove the yellow and you have a blue budgie. Remove the Blue and you have a yellow budgie. Then there is the grey family pigments......
