Wing Cliping
Hi if you are going to clip their wing you take the first four flight feathers. Approximate half way down. They will grow back in the next moult or maybe the next If you cut them too far down they will bleed and then you have a big problem.

We Have Eggs!
I think Star is a Type I yellow face spangle as I can't see any bleed in the body.

Advice Needed
Keep a very close eye on the male he may attack the chicks. If he seems to be feeding them great, your problem is sloved. 30 deg is cool. I run up to 40 degs some times. The nest box is usually around 36 deg. The chicks will be fine.

Egg Question
Hens can lay with out mating. Your bird has decided that the time is right. I would throw the eggs away and rearrang the cage. She may stop or you may need to get advice from Phoebe.

I Need Help Sexing Again
But I got to add that I had a bird that I couldn't tell if it was male or female. Sold it to Karen. I think it turned out to be Male.

Breeding Time
I have different colours for families but don't use them any more. I ringed a chick this morning but don't think the ring will stay. At 8 days the leg was still a bit too small. Last in the clutch. If you have problems reringing the chick try some medicated olive oil with a touch of detol on his foot.

What Am I?
In Answer to LusoPeriquito's post. Correct. Not really. The bird is a blue base pied that is why he is white. The cobalt is the colour of the band. If the band is lighter he would be a Skyblue pied, if darker he would be a mauve pied. Correct. It is normal that the yellow bleed in a type II doesn't cover the intire body. It is possible to have a goldenface recessive pied. But i think the yellow would be more buttercup that what I see in the photo I think LusoPeriquito gave it a good go and did pretty well. I am interested in others comments Oh and I am not saying that I am 100% correct either

Egg Marking?
Both Nerwen and I use water base non toxic markers. I've had no problems with my eggs hatching.

Sleeping?!
Does she do this often and does she have both feet on the perch when she does it?

Four New Budgies
No I'd pair them up while they are in quarentine... I mean what else are they going to be doing

Four New Budgies
You are right I think the Cinnamon gene acts the same as in a lutino or Albino to give the Lacewing effect. The ino gene is supposed to remove all body colour except yellow (Lutino) and the additional blue gene removes the yellow colour (Albino) but the cinnamon gene is not effected by these two genes so produce a lacewing in either white or yellow. If this is the case with a DF spangle it should only effect the black markings to give the "Spangle" effect. So it may not be a DF Spangle... Pair it to a normal and see what genes carry on

Finally Some Male Budgies!
I have spoken to a number of top breeders and they all refuse to use trill. They tell me there is no nutritional value to the seed. It maybe good to stay away from it.

Budgie Help
....don't I know this. Bluebell would have nothing to do with Apollo to the point that she bloodied his head in one attack. So I had to quickly separate them. Now I have oaired her up to Jet and she can't get enough of him. She actually chases him to kiss and cuddle. Who'd guess But the first time they were togeather earlier this year she didn't want him either. Give them time.

Breeding Time
There are so many interesting stages that the chicks go through. This is the "What do you think it will be???" stage. The two that Jazz is looking after have the pied banding on the head. So I am pretty sure they are the Ganzer birds. But won't be 100% until they feather up.

Four New Budgies
If you had a nest box in a closed quarentine "Breeding Cage" thats fine. All chicks will be spangles. Males will be split to opaline and cinnamon. But you could get a spangle dominant pied. Females will be cinnamon spangles and cinnamon spangle dominant pieds. Love to see them.
