She Won't Stop Laying
If thats the case you can breed her again when you think it's best for the weather?
-
She Won't Stop Laying
If this is her 2nd clutch in a row I'd rest her for 3 to 6 months. It really depends on the number of chicks she has raised in the clutches over how mant clutches in a row.

Breeding Time
looks like a greywing or dilute to me, maybe opaline too Hi HurdyBirdy I'll give you a clue Hen Cock. Two more chicks hatched today Chick 1 Mum Dad http://www.flexi.net.au/~dwellsadsl/Images/Bluey.jpg Chick 2 Mum & dad Any takers on what the chicks will be???

She Won't Stop Laying
If the last chick is over 4 weeks old it can be placed in the breeding cage and the nest box removed. Mum and Dad will look after the chicks. Shake the eggs to adle them. They wont hatch. It's not the egg laying that causes the stress but the raising of the chicks. If you do this you might find her laying some more eggs in the breedig cage. If you don't have a ready hen to accept them, I'd throw them away.

What Am I?
I would love to see her current photo. I couldn't imagine a yfII bleed that strong. Not say it couldn't happen but I would love to see it... I just had a look at the first photo. Is there patches of white through the yellow because your two birds are blue base. You can see the white showing through. On my monitor the recessive pied, in question, looks a full colour yellow with the blue patch .. but is there white on that bird?

What Am I?
Well you got me. I am hoping that Nerwen can come up with something

What Am I?
you forgot yellowface. how can you tell? Recessive pied in a green base is yellow all over. http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a26/darrylw/DSCN5189.jpg Here is a male green recessive pied in the green series. Not that he may not be yellow face but it's so hard to tell from looking. Daz, you mentioned that this bird is cobalt, which means that he's gotta be a yellowface. He can't be a yellow base green bird for the blue to show through. Hi cheeta but to be a yellow face blue base bird the base colour will be white, the face will be yellow unless a type II which will bleed into the body not cover it. I have never seen a green base bird as this one with blue colouring. I have breed both Blue base and Green bace recessive pieds. Nerwen has one of mine but not like this bird. It would have to be green base to have a yellow body. Yellow faces only come in blue base birds such as blues, violets and greys. So as i said yes this could be a yellow face but would be hard to see it. The blue markings on a yellow body it rare as it should react and turn green. It's a special bird. To explain some of what I said. http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a26/darrylw/budgies018.jpg Cobalt Recessive Pied. Dark Green Cinnamonwing Recessive Pied. Left is a Dark Green RFecessive pied the right is a Cobalt recessive pied. This one. A cobalt Recessive pied on a green base????

Cats And Aviaries
This is a problem everywhere. All you can do is to keep an eye on the cats and hope they don't come close.

Pair Behavior!
Budgerigars can breed at a young age but shouldn't be allowed to. They need to develop until they are 12 months old before breeding. The hen will feed the male but usually only when he is sick. It is the male's job to feed the female and the chicks. How old are your birds? If you are unsure, put up some photos and we will have a look. :wine

Bird Breeding Software
Glad to have helped. :wine I think the 15 day access would be good. It will give a better idea of what the software can give.

The Flock Shots
Candacelast most of what you see is feathers he's not really that big. I think this is him in the Show Cage. His average weight over the last few weeks has been a steady 54 grams. Not really one of my bigger birds. That Albino next to him is a young chick just out of the nursary. He weighed in at 31 grams..

How Soon Is Too Soon
The chicks can leave the nest box after 4 weeks old but will need to stay with the parents for another two weeks. All I would do is when the youngest is 28 days old take him from the nest box into the breeding cage andd take away the nest box. Leave the "Family" togeather in the cage until the youngest is 42 days and then move them to the flight. I have a nursary which I move the young to after 42days, it's a bit like a half way home. They are with other young until they are two to three months old and then I transfer them to the flight. The hens will probibly lay again on the cage floor. Just throw the eggs out if you don't want them.

Weighing Your Budgie
I use a show cage. It's small enough to sit on the scales but big enough that bird doesn't think it is cramped.

Breeding Time
I just counted and have 23 metal closed rings with numbers on them that I won't be using, so you can have them. Up date on the chicks... The oldest is continuing to look like an opaline but I think the second oldest maybe a spangle. I'll get a photo up tomorrow.

What Will I Get?
The bird would have to be a Double Factor Dominant Pied or you would have to breed your bird to one to get 100% dominant pieds.
