Soft foods are mixture of high protein foods with minerals and vitamins. I use Grated carrot, Soaked Hulled oats and Budgie Starter as a basis. Some people use a hard boiled egg sheel and all blended with some bread, carrot and pasley. There are some recepies on this forum under health. You are on the right track. Becareful not to supply the wrong branches. Plants - Good and Bad I use Vetafarm products and found them to be very good. You can get these from good pet stores or produce stores. Bird Tracker is a good program to track your birds, it also has a great genetic section. Have a look through the Genetic section of this forum. There is a lot of information that members have posted. You can click on the link in my signature to go to my web site. It has information and links to other sites. I hope you enjoy the forum and remember ask questions , we will try to help if we can.

Someone can check my results... If they have the patients.
  9. Only at the start and depending on how hard it blows. You only need to havethe air moving. Remember that Hot air rises so the cages should be "coolish" being on the ground.
  10. I haven't found a Store that can prove it vet checks its birds before sale. Many will tell you they have a vet check them but they can't prove it.

Verynice bird Hommer did you breed him or buy him? Love the head features.

    Nice birds Hommer

If you have listed the birds as stolen, they can't be advertised for sale either... Neither can their chicks. Hope all goes well. Thanks for showing us your set up. You know the first thing I look at when I visit a new site is the aviary and set up. I am more interested in the set up than the birds. Funny that.
  14. Feed tham Oranges cut up. The old remidy was citus Acid... Hance the Apple Cider Vinagur.. I feed my bird this 3 days a week.
  15. Well just remeber that as the days lengthen and it becomes hotter and there is plenty of food and water there will be more breeding. A fan sounds like a great idea. I am just setting up four more pairs before "Summer" gets here. One last shot at breeding before the real heat attacks us.
  16. Every now and again we get the English (Show) Budgies don't live long. This is a fable. It's like saying pedigree dogs have more health problems than Mungrels. Not always true. Thanks hath for setting us straight.
  17. If you are going to put up the two eggs I gave you call me I will buy them back No worries

The Babies maybe dying of sour crop but you must take a dead one to an avian vet to be certain. Is the mix you are giving too dry. Check the age mixture directions. Why are you feeding the chicks at 3 weeks? Is it to tame them? If so wait until 4 weeks. The first 28 days is the most crutial to thier development. The mother is the best to feed her chicks. Let her for the first 4 weeks. Egg and Biscuit is no good. It was ment to be a protien additive not a total feeding soloution. Stop feeding them that and get a proper Baby Hand rearing mix as Bubbles said. You can hand feed them from 4 weeks and they will tame.
  19. Yes that is correct about the symbols. I have some with triangles and some with dashes for different years.
  20. I had a quick look at my birds. LG-4 002 is 2004 and is blue PR-3 297 is 2003 and is red If thats the case it would be 2000 - Gold 2001 - Green 2002 - Black 2003 - Red 2004 - Blue 2005 - Purple 2006 - Gold 2007 - Green 2008 - Black 2009 - Red 2010 - Blue My Oldest BIrd is Jet (SWB C&B -3 437) 2003 bird

Kirby and others I found one of my old posts. Kirby you think you were excited and worried. I think I have ringed over 50 chicks since this post. For those that didn't know. I ended up with 3 chicks one died the day of hatching and the other two where sky blue spangles. One, Chirpy lives in the house with George and Angel.

    They love flying around.
  23. An Extract from the Format and Rules for the Australian National Budgerigar Council Annual Championship Shows. No Variation in the base colour of the year ring is acceptible. Colour Sequence is: 2005 Purple 2006 Gold 2007 Green 2008 Black 2009 Red 2010 Blue Now I don't know the colour before 2005 but i'll try to find out.
  24. Yes but the lutino can not carry the blue gene. So both birds will be split to yellowface. Just cut out the Albino. An albino is not a gene. It is a combination of an ino and a blue gene. So a lacewing (yellow) is a cinnamon lutino. But you can have a Cinnamon Albino (White Lacewing)

Great Idea, but it's strange thinking about winter. We are going into Summer with 41 deg C in the avairy over the weekend.
