Sounds like a much better plan! :hi: Ours have an area that is enclosed with a 6 foot fence. On one side is our dogs area so we hope that she'll deter any cats or foxes from coming too close. That said we only let them out of their chook pen when we're home anyway. Let me tell you, fresh eggs are so much better than those from the supermarket!! My wife made the best pavlova she's ever made from our eggs for Xmas day!!

My concern would be if the chooks can get in at night then the budgies can get out. Our chook cage doors are open most of the day so theres no way we could keep budgies in there. Our chooks also chase birds so I don't know if they would get on with budgies anyway. My brother just lets his chooks run around the yard then locks them up in a really small cage overnight, perhaps you could do that and have the budgies in a seperate aviary.

Wood work is popular, its one of my favourite pass times too. I built our first kitchen, built in robes in the boys rooms and hallway and a carport on the side of the house. Then I got into metal work and built a custom bike rack for the car and this landyacht, which is now another of my hobbies. Picture: Me and my landyacht I also enjoy working on my cars, but being a Jeep owner this is probably more of a necessity than a hobby! :rofl: But the thing that consumes most of my time (outside of my family and work) is bike riding (bicycle not motorbike). I ride with a club made up from people from my work. Our work even sponsored us with jerseys with the company's logo on them.

We went to a garden centre on the weekend that has part of the large shed walled off and inside that is the pet shop. It was over 30 degrees outside and it was really hot in that room. The budgies were all puffed up and panting madly with their beaks open. They looked really stressed and the rabbits looked like they were suffering as well. I hope they know what they are doing. I guess if budgies are used to the conditions in the centre of Aus they should be okay, so I didn't say anything, but they didn't look happy!

Ditto, I've got Norton Corporate Edition through work and so far it has quarantined about 12 viruses without any issues - TOUCH WOOD!!

Yeah he just got stuck in there and quite distressed so I have removed the container and wired shut the door and put his seed in a cup on the floor. Crazy kid!!

ooooooooookay.... here's something you don't see everyday. Ozzy was outside and when I went to check on him his cage looked completely empty. That was until I went around to the other side and looked into his seed container. I had to get him out, but since he has gone back in and was able to get himself out, but why is he doing it??

ummm, they missed a spot on their face. :bliss: I bet they will be a lot more comfortable during summer now! We don't have that issue with Bullies, we have to use sunburn cream instead. :thumbs_down:

OUCH!! The finger tips are one of the most sensitive parts of the body! At leat you won't have a finger print there, just in case you want to start a life of crime. :thumbs_down:

excuse my spraypaint covered fingers, (trust me I scrubbed them before handling Ozzy) but... I can't believe how much he enjoys a head scratch!! At one stage I just held my finger still and he rubbed his head against it like a cat!!

Ernie now has a brother, literally. Ozzy was from Ernie's parent's next clutch, bred by Liv. He has arrived home today and is now sitting in his quarantine cage, talking to Ernie in the other room. We can't wait to see them together!!

You can buy that shelving from 2nd hand office furniture shops with steel backs and sides quite cheaply. Then you could just buy those breeding cage fronts with doors in them for one side and wire on the front and you'd have a completely steel aviary or breeding boxes. Hmmn time to phone around I think!

HEY!! That's garage shelving with one shelf upside down on top of another isn't it? That's brilliant, I've got a shed full of that shelving. Hmmmn, now you've got me thinking!!
